Well I could not find the mirror I was going to practice on. I did a google search and found several forum topics just like this one. They all said the same thing, that it's etched behind the glass. So removing it from this side most likely won't happen.
The mirror that I was going to used was...
I've tried removing it/fading it out on junk mirrors before with no luck. Surely there is something that would at least remove the color so that it makes it less of an eye sore, but it could be colored in from the inside of the mirror?
I've got some chemical paint remover I will try on a junk...
You're as picky as I am! LOL
I hate that crap too, but I don't think you can get it off no matter what you do. I'm pretty sure it is etched into the glass.
Perfect sense! I'm glad you got it opened! You might try to use something to act as the "striker" before you close the hood again. You might need to adjust your cables so just be on the safe and play with it a little before you close it again to see if anything gets jammed or something. :)
If I understand this correctly, you got the hood to pop up but you can't get the right side to release the catch?
Can you get it opened enough that you can reach the cables? If so, take a pair of pliers and pull the cable.
I'm just trying to get a mental image of where it is stuck.
This car is a driver, just not right now! I'm getting everything finished this year so I can enjoy it next year. What's wrong with that? I'm doing this for myself as a reward. I don't care what other people think about my car. I'm just glad I get the chance to own my dream car.
I hate the faint...
Thank you sir! That's what I'm shooting for! Tedious work doesn't bother me because I'm after the best finished product I can get. I hate deadlines because it just cuts the quality short. I won't point out what I cut off and grinded smooth just yet, but there are several things on this intake...
It never fails! There is always someone that will tell me I have to much time on my hands no matter what I'm doing!
I bought this intake so my car is still drivable, however it's sitting at an interior shop getting a complete custom interior, so this is my "winter" project. It will be well...
Here is what I have done so far. It has taken quite a bit to get to this point but it will be worth it. I still have a lot of tedious work to do and there is a lot of powder coat in some tight places. I'm grinding off all the casting lines in between and anything else that doesn't belong. This...
I agree with you Chuck! And I know that when you customize anything that opens the door for errors such as a failed cable. If the cable had issues it would be harder to work on but I have a few ideas that wouldn't make it a hard thing to accomplish.
The Valve covers and intake will all be...
Do you have any pictures of them?
Just to clear things up I was looking to put just the newer font of Viper by itself without SRT. I just want to update the font to match my VC and calipers.
Those are painted and polished! If you look closely the outside edge of the wording was...
Awesome! That sounds perfect! I'm still looking to do this for sure and that sounds like a clean and easy way to do it. Can you find out how he mounted the cable? I'd love to see pictures of this if you he has any?
Thanks for the reply I think this will put me on the right track! :headbang:
Wraps wouldn't even be an option for me since I'm looking for a higher quality finish. Plus I'm having some engine parts painted to match. I doubt the vinyl would withstand the heat.
Dave your car is looking good! I have several shops here in Oklahoma that can do the job but thanks for the...
Thanks everyone for the replies! I was estimating around 7-10k possibly up to 12-13k with some extra engine and interior pieces and a few other things I want done.
I know that prep work is the main thing when it comes to a paint job and I wouldn't let just anyone paint it. I'm having my...
For anyone that has had their car repainted what can I expect to pay? I know it will vary on the body shop and color but what would be a ball park estimate? I would like to get it painted a different shade of red. I want the windshield pulled and the car taken down to the roof skin. To me this...
