Has anyone changed their shifter ball in a Gen V yet? Is it the same fitting as on a Gen IV?
If and when I close on a Gen V I would like to change it up a bit (while we still have shifters to shift!).
Thanks!
The cars you are discussing are NOT substitutes. The Viper is awesome, but not really a comfortable daily driver. The door sill heat is really not and issue in Gen IV or V. The Gen V GTS should be the most comfortable, but the cockpit is small and the car's utility is limited. The CLS does...
Interesting ideas in this thread.
Of course, nearly all cars experience depreciation--no surprise there with the Gen V. However, I would say that the sky is far from falling. I have been considering a 2014 Gen V GTS from some time and prices are good not "fire sale" good. The 2013 Gen V...
Replacing the front (?) brake rotors after only limited use is pretty extreme. Those rotors (Brembo for TA fronts?) will be quite expensive as I am sure you have discovered. Brake fluid and Brake pads are supposed to be the consumable/wear items. Here in CA, many use the Gen IV ACR rotors for...
Your information on power is contrary to recent information from relaible sources. If in fact your information is correct, the bump should be applicable to all Gen Vs through an ECU reflash or otherwise at no cost to avoid penalizing the existing Gen V owners who supported SRT/Dodge and those...
The Porsche is an awesome car--as noted repeatedly. It is also a better daily driver if one would like to drive such a car daily. However: (1) it is $200k; (2) For the most part it looks like every other Porsche, which is to say its VW Bug roots shine through; (3) the Viper will spank it on a...
Dodge needs competition for the ZL1 and Hypo Mustang that is coming. It also needs a price-point volume car (the Viper will never fit this bill). For bragging rights I agree, I would like to see the Viper as king of the hill in stated power. However, as noted above the Challenger and Charger...
I believe that the Plant will open in June to produce 2014s already in the pipeline and then will switch to 2015s which will be largely the same as 2014s. Of course, it is possible that a Vert, etc. could be announced, but I have no idea and you would think that mules, pre-production models...
I love the HRE P40 Brushed Monobloc wheels on my Gen IV! (19/20) and they fit perfectly. You just change the aspect ratio of the tire to keep the wheel/tire diameter as close to OEM as possible.
You might want to check with some dealers/auto trader on the value of your trade, etc. as your upgrade price seems a bit low. Of course, I hope you have found the perfect private party buyer and seller to make any change happen for even less!
So far, 3 dealers have indicated that the rebates/dealer factory $$$$ is only on 2013s. Since the factory will likely produce 2015s when it opens, hopefully there will be $$$$ available on 2014s shortly.
The Z07 model with full aero (like Z28) will be $25k--$30k+ more than the Z28 (the scuttlebutt is around $100k for the loaded C7 Z07--ceramic brakes, carbon fiber, splitter, spoiler, etc. Some items like data mapping, etc. might push the price a bit). I am a bit concerned about use of an...
It is a great time in the car world when there are so many choices to compare--let's hope this lasts and let's hope that our Viper remains in the hunt for many years!
Porsche has done a masterful job of keeping the 911 line relevant and, in some ways, dominant. Their cars are precision...
My Gen IV is currently for sale on autotrader and another car site. I have excellent condition HRE P40 Brushed Monobloc wheels in 19/20. I just paid $1,100 for new rear tires. These will be available only if I decide to sell my car.
Actually, I have a '08 Gen IV and there is a factory pcm reflash from the dealer which I believe addresses some of the issues. My car received this when I picked it up new from the dealer. Of course, any "fix" is limited by the system on the car.
It was posted elsewhere that the Viper racing budget and the street car budget are separate, so the cancellation does not appear to be to funnel $$$$ to the street car development.
HRE Monobloc P40-Brushed 19/20 on my GTS Blue/Silver Stripes Gen IV--like Nineballs's car. Very cool wheels. Those and the 2 piece ACR Stoptech Rotors really changed the looks of the car for the better.
Most of these post just miss the point. Dealer mistakes in ordering or customer treatment have nothing to do with massive lost sales. The car is the car and that is what we focus on. It is always possible to find a good dealer to work with--for example, the Forum dealers. Similarly, lack of...
If the Viper goes to Russia, Russia will not pay for it, they will just take it, just like the Ukraine... . Of course the Viper is for sale, UKR was not.
