All, thank you for your feedback. Looking forward to getting to know the car and how to drive it.
Allen, I agree with you. I plan on taking some driving courses to really learn how to handle the car. I don't plan on doing any major upgrades to the car but instead plan on putting the money...
Recently got a 08 ACR, thinking about changing the shifter to a short throw shifter. I would like to keep the look as stock as possible and want to be able to take the car back to stock easily if I so desire.
What would you all recommend? Has anyone installed a '10 ACR shifter into a '08...
Recently picked up my first viper, a 2008 ACR. I'm probably going to end up tracking the car some and want to have proper safety equipment.
What does it take to install a six point harness in an ACR? Do you need to cut or alter anything? I don't want to alter the car if possible and if so...
I read in one post somewhere that only thirst 200 '08 cars needed this reflash and all the rest came with the update from the factory. Can someone verify this information.
Thanks
Being a newbie, can someone explain to me how one now adjusts these tables to improve throttle response and get this update into the car.
Thanks for all the info. Very helpful.
I agree. Sounds like the belt is slipping. That would explain the burn rubber smell and the lack of boost all at once. Maybe the belt tension pulley has loosened up and you have too much slack in the belt.
I had something similar happen to me on a Paxton I had on a mustang. I ended up...
Just purchased my first Viper, an 08 ACR. I have read the 08 had some issues with the fly by wire throttle that can be fixed with a reprogram. Is this true? What is the best way to get if reprogrammed?
I also have read there are some ways to by pass the skip shift. What is the best way?
The...
I just bought my first Viper. Its a Gen IV. I will be going overseas for a year for work and sadly can't take the Viper with me. I'll be storing it with family during that time. What is the best way to store the car while I am gone?
I figure I have two options:
1. Put it on blocks...
So I have finally decided on the Viper I am going to get and I now need to figure out how I am going to ship it home. I have contacted Reliable Carries Inc for a quote, but also want to get some other quotes. Who do you recommend?
I will be shipping the car from Tomball, Texas to either...
I hear you. At the end of the day it's personal and changing oil often will not hurt a car. A Viper definitely deserves to be baybied and if you drive it hard should be. I posted the RP info to show that 3k miles is no longer the norm.
I use Royal Purple and am very happy with it. I also use their oil filters which I have found to be top quality.
Even Royal Purple says you can go over 3,000 miles per oil change if you are running a quality oil and filter (they specifically say theirs, I wonder why).
"Royal Purple...
What is a good price to pay for a 2008 ACR with around 20K miles? Lets assume the car is in very good condition with only minor modifications or none at all.
I'm in the market for a Viper and have been looking at Gen II cars. I am now starting to expand my search to include Gen IV ACRs, but...
I have a friend who is big into corvettes and uses the 50%. He will buy them to use on the track and in autocross. I agree you would want to see this car in the 30k range to really make it worth it.
Oh and the herpies comment had me laughing pretty hard.
Thanks all for the advice.
I've been looking for a Gen 2 GTS for the past couple of weeks. I have gone back and forth between getting an ACR or not (you all have been very helpful in educating me about the pros and cons of the car) and I have decided I want to go the ACR route. I have found a few for sale at...
Just saw a 2008 ACR with 8K miles pop up on Autotrader for $50K. It is a rebuild. Was crashed on the driver side and the bumper, fender, quarter panel, and rear bumper had to be replaced. It looks good in the pictures, but that is all I know about it. I am currently on the hunt for a 01-02...
All,
Thanks for the replys. They have been helpful. I have gone back and forth between wanting to get an ACR. Right now, I'm back on the kick of getting an ACR. I want to keep the car as stock as possible and like the idea of the car coming from the factory ready for the track. I also have to...
I'm on the hunt for a Viper GTS. I am seriously considering an ACR. People have informed me about issues with the shocks on the 01-02 models. If I do decide to get a 01-02 ACR, what is the best way to evaluate the shocks and determine if they need to be rebuilt? What visual signs can I look...
Thanks. I agree and am trying to get a ride in one. We have been having horrible weather in Virginia so no one is taking their Viper out on the road anytime soon.
Fuelman, really liked your reply and I think you did a good job explaining what its like to own and drive these different cars. When you say find an ACR do you mean any ACR or only the 08-10 ACR? I have been thinking about a 99-02 ACR, but have heard the shocks on a 01-02 ACR can be a pain to...
