No need to remove shroud/fan/radiator. Just loosen (not remove) engine mounts, remove transmission cross member, and tilt the whole thing. The cam slides out and does clear the shroud.
Good luck.
I would NOT recommend drag radials for any standing mile or 1.5 mile event. First of all, a hard launch will have little to no impact on final speed. Second, and most importantly, a drag radial is not designed for sustained high speeds. I have seen the blow outs. Some events like the Texas...
He stands out because he is the only one who chose to ignore all vendor suggestions about pairing better flowing heads with an aftermarket cam. He still made some decent gains, but is probably missing about 75whp from a set of better heads.
I our very popular friend "Twister" had a cam-only thread. He had some details.

Those 12C are certainly very quick cars. No stock Viper can touch it. At last year's Houston Half mile event, a MP4-12C ran 157.5mph compared to my 159.5mph. At the time, I was at about 615whp (700+ crank) with my heads/cam Gen III. I am no slouch with the gear lever, but this still shows...
I have had GEICO for many years and they were responsive when I had a decent sized claim with my Escalade last year (not at fault). The fact that they are searching in youtube worries me.
So do you want to eliminate the drone or not? You know its all a compromise. The crossover does have a couple of 45deg bends instead of a just one 90deg, but the loss is virtually insignificant. I have seen a stock OEM Gen III gain only 6whp between the OEM exhaust and Corsa catback (back to...
The intent with my picture was to show that if the Gen III can fit two 2.5" pipes, then you likely have real estate necessary to accommodate a single pipe connecting that connects both "J" sections .
Here are some pics of my stock Gen III exhaust while I had it on the alignment rack. There is ample room for two 2.5" pipes on the Gen IIIs. I am not sure how much the cabin "tub" changed between Gen V and Gen III/IV. Again, your belly pan may not have that cut out. It's there to cool the...
The structure/skeleton of the soft top is held by a couple of c-channels that are fastened with small button head screws requiring an allen wrench to tighten. You might want to check them all out and ensure that they are tight.
Thanks for sharing this with us. I have actually been looking at their El Paso to LA rally (Dustball 1000). I am certain that a trip through the south west would be very enjoyable. I will PM later with some inquiries.
Thanks for the updates Kris. What a bummer that my 165.x mph record pass was broken by Z06 at 169mph. That is a healthy margin in speed. That car has to be making close to 700whp in order to get almost 170mph. Looks like a have a new target now, I just need to figure out how to get 700whp...
Re: Reached the tipping point: the stock 2013 exhaust interior dB level is unacceptab
Dropping a 3.07 with the Gen V transmission gearing is not a very good idea. The new TR-6060 gears (1-3) are way too long. Here are speeds (6400rpm) for different final gears.
3.55 3.07
1 63 73
2 91 106...
Re: Reached the tipping point: the stock 2013 exhaust interior dB level is unacceptab
Any chance that you can post pics, dimensions, or part number of the Gen V exhaust. I am curious to see how different it is when compared to the Gen III/IV.
Re: Reached the tipping point: the stock 2013 exhaust interior dB level is unacceptab
Bummer that you have to resort to an aftermarket exhaust to eliminate the drone. Adding a cross-over would very likely solve your problem, but you would have to make a few slight modifications beyond just the...
Its going to be tough to get even into the low 150s with those mods. Looks at some of the WannaGoFast event results (CLICK ME) to see how some diverse cars are doing. At the April event in Florida, a stock Gen III went 143mph while a stock Gen IV went 153mph. Your gearing won't help either...
I participated in their Carrabelle, FL event last April and was able to hit slightly over 165 in my NA Gen III. I currently hold their NA record for any WannaGoFast event. I will humbly pass than along to my Viper brethren. Good luck.
