I'm in central florida and the temps lately have been mid 90's. My 1997 viper sometimes creeps up near the 250 mark, but it's rare, and only at stop lights. Then it always reduces with some wind speed. Mine has an aftermarket radiator and hoses; I'm unsure if that matters much or not.
I do watch...
I appreciate your detailed response.
However mine seems to be fully weather proof and car wash proof.
I’m new here so maybe I don’t-know-what-I-dont-know.
Why do you say that about the gen1/2 roadsters? I have a 97 rt/10 and have no idea why you’d include my gen2 alongside the generation that lacks door handles and air conditioning.
Honest question
I bought my 97 viper 3.5 months ago with 40k on it.
I greatly enjoy the car for sure, but I’m convinced it is 20-30% low on power. Mine won’t even break loose the tires unless I try to (with quick clutch release or doing a donut).
And while it is faster than ‘anything else’ on the road (that...
In 2.5 months of having my 97 Viper I’ve driven 2,000 miles and of course have started the engine hundreds of times.
One time it ran poorly.
A dozen or so times it would stop cranking because my foot/leg accidentally let the clutch pedal up a fraction of an inch (during cranking).
One of...
I got my red 97 RT/10 about 9-10 weeks ago and I’ve been really enjoying it.
I’ve driven nearly 2,000 miles already.
Plenty more I could share but this post is about fuel octane:
When I got the car I was actually a little disappointed about its torque/acceleration. I had a feeling so I ran...
This whole thread has me confused- I checked out the wipers on my 97 RT/10 and they look perfectly normal to me. Same as a million other wipers I’ve seen in my life.
What am I missing?
My 97 Viper RT/10 has a radar detector on the front bumper nose with wiring going to indicator lights in the rear view mirror. So I assume it’s aftermarket.
Do you have a stock rear view mirror?
Also I need both door hinges. I’ll send mine back to you if you want (my intent is to minimize...
I find myself often saying ‘veeper’
Because many years ago I read a magazine article (remember those days?) about comparison with Lamborghini Diablo vs Dodge Viper,
And there’s two things I remember
1-they were showing off the Viper’s impressive torque by accelerating in 3rd gear from a...
Wow this is great to learn. With Viper tires being rare/difficult I assumed it’s because they’re the widest street tires that exist.
Now that I know wider tires exist I will definitely be getting those.
And I’m wearing out my rears pretty quickly if you know what I mean
Man I JUST had that idea Sunday :)
I got my head underneath the dash to check it out and saw that there’s a cable for each pedal and wondered if I could *do exactly what you described*
Was it hard to disconnect/reconnect a cable? Like was it intricate or difficult?
Also my problem is that I...
I bought mine from Rock Solid Motorsports in Elkhart IN. 6 weeks ago today it was delivered to me here in Florida.
It’s a 1997 RT/10 red. I don’t know enough about Vipers to comment much specifics but here goes:
Removable hard top,
five spoke chrome wheels,
Borla exhaust,
drilled/slotted...
I’ll post it in the new member section since it doesn’t really match the subject matter if this thread.

I recently had a bad experience with them as a seller. I had a 2008 Corvette in excellent condition and they were insisting on a reserve price that was way too low. The car was worth 30,000 on the open market but they wouldn’t go above $24,500. Now why would anyone (as a seller) do that?
