The Gen 3 is not compatible with the Gen 5 sensors. They are two completely different TPMS sensors. I don't even run sensors in my Gen 3, because I got rid of the run-flats anyways. It will be pretty obvious when you have a low tire, on non-runflats. I just live with the LO TIRE on my...
Re: Paxton owners - GET RID OF YOUR FMU & SPLIT SECOND SETUP AS SOON AS HUMANLY POSSI
I bought the SCT software to be able to tune my car myself. Like Dan said though, once it is tuned I haven't messed with it in over year.
I'd like to be able to say that since I already own a Gen 3 coupe that I knew the expectations going into the purchase, and knew they would produce a better car. But, looking back on my '06 purchase, I did the exact same thing. Purchased without ever ridden or driven one, only seen one in...
You nailed my feelings on the car, Bruce. I knew I wanted the Gen 5 Viper the moment I saw it unveiled on that stage. I hadn't bought a car prior to that in over a year, as I was somewhat content. A week after the unveil, I sold my Z06 to make room for the Viper, even though it was over a...
I know most people have complained about not being able to modify the cars much. I knew that going into my ordered car, so it didn't bother me. Now that I've clicked off a 10-second pass in it, this sort of raises the question about the car really "needing" mods. Most people (current Viper...
Re: Paxton owners - GET RID OF YOUR FMU & SPLIT SECOND SETUP AS SOON AS HUMANLY POSSI
Glad I could help you with your questions on this. I really disliked the FMU/Split-Second/Aux pumps on the Paxton kit. The car would make impressive peak dyno hp numbers, but get drug on the highway by cars...
I got my Gen 5 carbon parts from Wayne (Jetstar) and will install them this week. Parts look very nice, easily could be OEM quality. Will do a photo shoot with them installed.

Rears are identical. Fronts will stick out about half an inch further than normal Gen 3/4 wheels. But, it still looks good, as the factory 3/4 wheels tuck in a little too far anyways. Sidewinders are the ones to get, they are much lighter than the rest of the designs, since they are rotary...
I like your idea, Bruce. Keep the current ratios, but introduce a 3.73 rear axle ratio. Then add 7th gear with a 0.50 or taller OD. I'm used to having to use 6th gear for max speed, my '06 with the revised 5/6 gears goes to mid-6th in the standing mile. Feels kinda weird grabbing 6th at WOT...
Good info Jason. I would like to see you in a Gen 5 before it gets hot outside again, so that you can go bust your old record.
Jack, I measured the Nitto drag radial for you. It sits at 26-7/8" tall, off the vehicle. It is a 345/30-19 Nitto NT05-R.

No offence taken, Twister. I've yet to dyno this car, because I prefer to race instead of dyno. I can be coaxed into doing a dyno though, I have some time off the next few weeks. :)
My only question about this build. Were you able to make the electronic screens and other factory gauges work properly? If not, how did you address this?
Thanks, nice build.

Par for the course, on the good 'ol VCA. I hope I've reduced some of the Gen 5 hate, with my results. :)
The fact is that this is the first time we owners have gotten to race in cool weather, since most of us didn't get cars until May or later. It has been 4 yrs since Furman ran the 10s in...
Malu (Jason) posts here. He had the mufflers removed from that car. Not sure if he kept it 2.5 or 3.0 exhaust pipes. Not worth much, most likely, but that does count as a mod since a catback would also be a mod. That being said, you don't see a lot of Gen 4's out running 10s, either. It is...
Site still shows it at -1054 DA during that time. Still better conditions than my -450. That extra -600 ft is easily worth another tenth and 1 mph. Furman is also a proven driver, I just have a lot of seat time.
Date is mentioned on Furman's video, 3/23/09. Judging by the shadows of his car on the ground, I'd guess mid-day. Works out to -1500 ft DA, according to historical measurements. Here is a direct link...
