I'd like to remind people that I was only the first to do it. I don't claim to be the best driver, as I fully expect others to beat my time. I also would not like anyone to start bench racing about how all 5th gens run 10s now, just because 1 car did it. There is still a driver factor...
I'd rather have ABS than forged pistons. It is easier to build a forged engine, not so easy to avoid skidding into a wall or the guy in front of you. Cast hypereutectic pistons are actually better for NA setups, as the silicon content in the cast pistons keeps them from expanding as much as a...
3.73 rear gear would be perfect for a stock Gen 5 at the drag strip. That would make the effective 1st gear more aggressive than the 2008-10 trans, and would put the car into the sweet spot of the rpm band at the top of 4th gear, near the finish line. Should be possible to go 131-132 in 4th...
Probably 0.15 seconds. I don't see guys cutting 1.67 short times on stock tires, but I do think 1.75-1.80 times are reasonable on factory Corsa tires with a big burnout. The factory rear tires are pretty soft, and 355 wide. I would have rather ran on them, but I caught a nail in one and...
Never did anything to it. I believe SRT is working on a revised tune, something that might not pull timing as aggressively due to temps. Or something that will allow timing to ramp back in quicker when conditions are proven to be better. Since there was nobody at the track, I was able to do...
They say the Viper isn't built for drag racing. That being said, I'm still the first one to run 10s in a Gen 5 Viper, as of today :)

Whew! That was a lot of driving.

Are people really complaining about 350 miles? Geez. Go drive your cars some, and drive them like they were built for. I can put 100 miles on my car in a single day, when I drive it to work and back.
I don't see what the big deal is. As long as the manual is always an option, and development of the automatic trans doesn't inflate the pricing of all of the vehicles, then let there be an automatic option. The day the Viper becomes only automatic (ala GT-R) is the day that I won't buy them...
My seats broke in after about 1000 miles on the highway. They are stiffer than the Gen 3/4 seats, but still comfortable. Early on, the cushions were a bit harder and it didn't support my lower back too well. After finding the right angle and height for the seats, no issues now. There is a...
Find a good dealer that is willing to do an in-and-out deal for you. You locate a buyer and have them purchase it through the dealership that has the car you want to trade for. That also helps the buyer, as some banks offer a lower finance rate when purchasing from a dealer vs individual...
I don't consider 18K miles a lot, on any car. Especially a car like the Viper, which is built just short of a military tank. These cars would likely live 200,000 hard miles, they are stout cars.
I planned on running without the bottle later that day, but my trans 2nd gear let go after these passes. Bottle is easily 8-10 mph, I'm estimating. Probably would have gone high 9s at around 142-143.
In the standing mile, the car went 205 mph off the bottle, 209 mph on the bottle. Not a huge...
Most 4-post lifts only have 6' tall posts. Easy way to check for stacked vehicles, use this formula:
(Vehicle1 height) + (Vehicle2 height) + (6 inches of lift ramp thickness) + (6 inches safety margin)
If the total is still less than your ceiling, you should be fine.
I wouldn't do another Paxton on a stock engine. Mine made 674 but felt laggy and would get drug on the highway by cars making less peak rwhp. The external fuel pumps and FMU setup are garbage and have no throttle response. A good 600 rwhp heads/cam setup would be more fun to drive, and have...
