I like the Corvette, having owned two C6's myself. It looks modern and edgy, futuristic. General consensus based on the comments both cars got while parked side by side, the people "like" the C7, but they are in love with the Viper. The Viper still pulls the crowd, it is just a sexy car with...
More likely the result of your region approaching winter months, and the sales manager not wanting to sit on $100K worth of vehicles that aren't selling.
Maybe this will get more buyers into them, who knows. I'm still okay having paid MSRP for mine, as I've gotten to enjoy driving it for 6...
Based on what I've seen, the coupe Vipers have always gotten more attention from enthusiasts. Likely due to the more aggressive rear design, too. Car guys tend to prefer hard tops, look at the Z06/ZR1 for example. I was asked twice how I like the Maserati, last night. No joke.
Thanks for your response Hammerofcaptainobvious. I think you thrive on negative Viper info. I'm just sharing the facts, you have nothing to contribute here.
Sure would be nice if SRT engineers could respond, and tell us the magic secret to making dyno runs and doing burnouts. Reduced power...
This.
I had my '13 at the track last night, and people kept asking what year it was. It got a lot of attention, as any Viper does, but not any more than when I bring my '06 out. Vipers always get rockstar attention, but the '13 doesn't get any more than any previous generation does. Most...
I finally had an opportunity to take the new Viper to the drag strip, Royal Purple Raceway in Houston. I had read a few posts/feedback from others like JackB, who have taken their Gen 5 Vipers to the track, where it was mentioned that the clutch didn't like slipping off the line, and that...
hammerofgods, have you ever owned an LSX powered vehicle? Have you raced it? Houston is a huge car city, with GM's being the most predominant choice. I know of 100s of Z06's out there, just in town. Most of them raced. I only know of one that dropped a valve, but his also had a Procharger...
Please drop the LS7 failures stuff, that gets overplayed by the anti-LSX crowd. They built thousands of those cars, and the failures are related to using crappy quality valveguides. We've been spinning LS1 engines up to 7,000 rpm since 1999, when we first started getting aftermarket...
OHC only has one benefit over OHV. Valvetrain stability at high rpm. That is the ONLY benefit. That being said, can we at least agree that any OHC engine that doesn't at least rev to 8K rpm - is just a waste of the OHC's only benefit.
OHV has a few benefits over the OHC.
-Much smaller...
I don't care about the QC of the Corvette. The aftermarket doesn't care about the QC of the Corvette, either. This thread is about being able to modify vehicles. All generations of Viper owners should care about this, even if they do not choose to modify them. The ability to modify them...
I put about 140 miles on my Gen 3 Viper today. It makes about 1,100 rwhp. Using the factory computer with SCT tuning. I can understand the aftermarket not embracing a low-production vehicle, but there is no excuse for MOPAR to not release their own tuning software for the Gen 4 and 5. The...
The C7 Corvette has been out for 2 weeks. There are already dozens of aftermarket parts and tuning for the car, and R&D going on with numerous big-name manufacturers of performance parts. Just take a peek at the thread titles posted in this forum, to get an idea...
I bought two brand new C6's, one black base Z51, one cyber gray Z06. Both of them had orange peel and minor paint flaws. I wasn't too anal about those, on a mass-produced GM product. A lot of the issues pointed out on the yellow car above, I wouldn't be concerned with for the price of the...
This. Pushrods are better than DOHC engines that can't rev past 8K rpm. C6Z06 revs to 7K rpm with pushrods, all while slinging 7.0L of pistons around. OHC layout is actually an older technology than pushrods, look it up.
People aren't exactly knocking down the doors of the Nissan dealership to buy the GT-R, which is arguably the "easiest" vehicle to extract impressive lap times and 1/4 mile times out of, with very little driver skill required. Very few can drive a ZR1 to the limits, so it sort of falls into the...
I've tracked quite a few different cars, and if I don't feel a hint of fear behind the wheel - they are boring to drive. I've not been able to drive a Viper to the limit, yet. That is what intrigues me about the car, and makes me want to keep trying. Think of it like a roller coaster that you...
LOL @ 740 and 850 hp quotes. He probably adds 10 hp each time he tells that story. Expect 600 and 700, realistically. Slight steps up from the previous generation Z06 and ZR1.
Agreed on bashing the SRT employees directly, by name. It shouldn't be done, as the blame usually rests higher on the org chart ladder.
The NY launch was excellent. I knew at that moment that I'd buy a Gen V. No other cars had interested me in the previous 2-3 yrs.
Right? I even told him to have fun.
If anyone is hostile, it is the guy writing in ALL CAPS and irresponsibly using too many punctuation marks.
