I see people mention having to hit the rear trunk release more than once. That is because they are doing it wrong, and catching the safety on the first push. If you gently lift up on the hatch, while pushing the button at the same time, it will open on the first push. SRT engineer showed me...
I wouldn't change the pulley, if you have a stock engine. It should make 650-675 rwhp right out of the box. And, it will live a long time at that power level.
Half-shafts will survive if you don't dump the clutch on slicks, and avoid ANY wheel-hop. The factory clutch probably won't hold that sort of launch though.
Alex///Venom, a stock engine Gen 3 is only good for about 650-700 rwhp safely w/ the Paxton. So, basically the stock Paxton kit, no...
Rear wheels fit the same. The front wheels on Gen 5 need to stick out 0.5" further. So, putting Gen 1-4 offset front wheels on a Gen 5 will make the fronts look tucked in too far.
I wanted one of those, but couldn't wait for them to come out. I needed a new truck a year ago, picked up a '13 Ram 4x4 1500 w/ 8-speed. It only averages about 20 mpg highway, 18.5 overall. It tows my open car hauler no problem though, even at 90 mph (when needed) :)
Please please please get rid of those terrible runflat rear tires, especially since they don't have traction even at stock power levels. #1 reason for Vipers to go offroading or meet trees. With 900 rwhp, you'll need some drag radials at the very least. Suggest Nitto NT05-R 345/30-19 for the...
But you fail to understand one major thing. I prefer Vipers. I'm not even a Dodge/Mopar guy, I just like American cars. I can appreciate the 911, but wouldn't give up a Viper for buying one. Maybe if I had 30 cars, instead of 10, I might fit a Porsche in there somewhere, likely a classic...
Well, this thread certainly reminds me of old times here. Still have guys nut-swinging Porsches, crying for automatics because they are in denial about driver ability, and racing magazines instead of cars. LOL
You will have to basically dismantle the suspension on that side of the car. I take loose the upper A-arms from the frame, swaybar loose both sides, shock/strut removed, alignment link disconnected. Might have enough room to then just pull it out, once all that stuff is hanging. It just pulls...
Two technical reasons fight having a "lopey" sound, when talking about twin turbo setups.
1. The turbos themselves act as mufflers, since the exhaust note has to pass through the turbine. This alters the sound waves, a lot.
2. Lopey cams are typically associated with a higher overlap cam...
You guys getting the low-ball trade offers simply aren't talking to the right dealerships. I would even guess some of them are small-town dealers, or dealers in the cold climate regions of the country, as we approach winter. A few slimy low-ball offers doesn't set the precedence on trade...
It is called a "Loyalty" voucher. It was intended to help pacify those of us that purchased brand new Gen V cars, which saw a large depreciation in value over the first year. When they dropped the MSRP by $15K, they offered us the voucher as sort of a rebate on that action.
Quite a few of us...
No worries. I had Forgeline build me some 17x10.5 GA3-6 wheels for the rear, to match the rest of my wheels. I emailed Bogart, never got a response.
Tony
Nauman, did you pay MSRP for your car? If not, what amount was it discounted from MSRP. I can assure you, your brand new car isn't a $60K car. Mine was much higher than that. Unless you paid MSRP, you didn't lose anything. The price drop just put the new MSRP down to the normal "street...
The voucher expires in over 3 years from now. By then, depreciation will have stabilized on your TA, and you likely won't lose your ass on anything. Then, it will be nice to have that voucher, should a better Viper come out that you want later on. I've had my '13 for over a year and a half...
You guys don't discount the Z/28 so easily. It isn't just the tires and brakes, although both are at the top of the heap in terms of parts quality. The car chassis itself also handles excellent. GM put a lot of work into developing the Camaro's that can handle, their Chief Engineer (Mark...
Put the A/C vents on bi-level, so they blow on your feet and through the dash vents at the same time. I can freeze myself out in my G5 that way, even on 95F days here in Houston.
Very cool build thread. As for salvage title cars, I never understand why the owners don't ever seem to have any photos of the damage or the repair work. If I were rebuilding a salvage car, I'd document everything - just like I do when I restore a classic car. Hell, I even take photos of rock...
Non-racers focus too much on peak hp numbers. Experienced racers understand that the highest average hp under the curve for the racing RPM powerband, is what what really matters. The 911 Turbo S, the SLS, and the Z06 all have one thing in common - forced induction. That means they have a lot...
