Good review Dan, glad to see you finally got to drive one and experience the car. It is too bad we have so many negative Viper owners here that would rather make the magazine comparisons, complain about pricing when they simply just can't afford the car, and generally bash what they haven't...
I have lightweight and inexpensive 18/19 sets available. Info here.

I really like the digital gauges and the tach is very accurate. I also like the clamshell opening hood, and how light it and the hatch are, compared with my Gen 3 coupe. It is just a better car in every aspect, I was mostly expecting just a re-skinned car on a previous chassis. Not even close...
FYI, the engines are already broken-in at the assembly plant, before they get installed into the car. The suggested break-in cycle is mostly for the clutch, rearend, transmission, and brake pads. I wouldn't be scared to make a few wide-open hits on the highway with it, but allowing the...
I've noticed a few slight quirks with the radio and my ipod. Shuffle button never stays selected whenever I re-start the vehicle. Also, the SRT gauge pack is wonky sometimes. I wish you could set a default so that the gauge pack always starts up when the car starts.
That is an RT/10, not an SRT-10. The SRT-10 are 2003+ models.
Gen 1-2 Vipers like that are definitely the kings of curb appeal for the buck invested. Plus, they are cheap enough that they have stopped depreciating. That means you can drive/enjoy it without worrying too much.
I'm currently...
Haters gonna hate. Sad that Viper owners often do the hating on newer generations on this site. Also, if we sat around and waited for "the next best thing" to happen, then we'd never buy anything. Every car gets improved a little, for each model year. This isn't specific to the Viper. I...
Maybe the reappearance of LED fog lights in the bumper side vents, which was the original purpose of those openings. Normal mid-model refreshes are just subtle changes in bumper covers, interior trim pieces, and wheel design. I don't expect anything major. Agreed with others that the SRT...
The same Eibach gen 3/4 springs should work on the SRT also. The Gen 5 can even accept any aftermarket coil-overs that fit the Gen 3/4.
Both cars shown have Forgeline GA3-6 wheels, 19x11.0 w/ 295/30-19 front, 19x12.5 345/30-19 rear. Black car is on Michelin PS2 tires, Blue car is on Michelin...
Gen 3-4 Viper springs are a direct fit on the factory GTS shocks.
Owner of the C7 LOL car also has a twin-turbo Underground Racing Gallardo, which currently holds the record for standing 1/2-mile at over 200 mph. The Viper is just his fun commuter car. ha
Yes, two local customers of mine have lowered their cars and bought Forgeline wheels from me. One is a GTS on Eibach lowering springs, the other is an SRT on MCS coil-overs.

Since my car started life without the aero, and I added it about 7000 miles later, I can attest that the aero does make a difference in feeling. There is noticeably more drag over 100 mph, and the car decelerates faster than it used to, when coasting at 75-80 mph. They definitely aren't just...
Yes, the SRT + Track Pack is the lightest Gen V available. Should be the quickest in a straight line. The T/A has heavier brakes, heavier sway bars, heavier electric shocks, and the added drag/aero over an SRT. I think I read somewhere that the T/A was 40-50 lbs heavier than the SRT. But, it...
The T/A is a great package. I'd have ordered an orange one, had I known they would be available. But, I don't feel the T/A is much better than any other Gen 5 out there. Each of them have their own merits, and you can achieve the exact same curb appeal on any Gen 5 with the Exterior Aero...
To put it into perspective, Ford built over 4,000 Ford GT's. It would take a few years for SRT to build that many Gen 5 Vipers. Those expensive Fords were also heavily discounted after the first year, because "people won't pay that much for a Ford". Now they pay more than MSRP for one.
Thanks to all of those that have shown interest in my past polls, I've convinced Forgestar to begin offering the 18x10.0 front wheels in the Viper 6-lug fitment. It has taken over a year to get these done, so if you were waiting on a set - do not wait any longer! We have enough cores to build...
Rolex isn't much better than a Seiko, either. But, I know which one I would value more, and have a little more pride in ownership of. I love Corvettes, but they are not Vipers. I've owned them at the same time, and will likely get a C7Z06 too. But, they are not Vipers.
They build so few of these cars, that resale value isn't a big concern. For shoppers looking for used cars later, it isn't like they can usually find the exact car they are wanting, at any time they want. Not like a Corvette, where you can fire up ebay and autotrader and find a dozen in the...
