You mis-read what I said. I said that the ZR-1 is a great performance car, which is self-evident as it is a virtual match in performance to the new SRT Viper (and among the top performance cars in the world).
But frankly I wanted the ZR-1 to have supercar styling like the amazing Corvette...
I am surprised with many of these comments (from the Viper owners). It was only a short time ago when the Viper was going to be discontinued and/or sold off. And after Fiat jumped in it was still uncertain if they would keep the Viper or not. So I'm VERY happy to see the Viper still alive and...
Your Viper looks Sinister! And it seems like your performance and visual mods are a great compliment to what makes the VooDoo and ACR Viper models extraordinary!
I want to see more pictures first before I pronounce judgement on the color combo (interior pics anyone?)
Isn't Rauh the buyer of the matte gold Hurst Coupe at auction for $275K, and it's matching one-off roadster version as well?
It should be an impressive Viper collection!
I agree that they look too wide on the 2010 model. But I do also believe that it won't look as harsh on closer color combinations, as it's now more like a two-tone paint rather than traditional stripes.
I also was bothered previously when the rear stripes didn't go through the license plate...
I've done it before a few times, but I have 3.55 rear and I wasn't dumping the clutch. Just taking off easily and smoothly. You guys are driving at another level, going for some serious times. My point was for practice, and I actually think that that a mild start from second gear is easier on...
I'll also add that there is a LOT of good advice in this thread for someone new to drag racing their Viper.
One of the bigger points is attitude. So many times I've been to the track and see people disappointed (myself included) because they are expecting to match (or beat) the best times of...
There are the formal NHRA rules:
http://www.nhra.com/competition/etquickref.aspx
But it often comes down to the particular track, and the session.
Up until recently the rule for convertibles was that they were restricted to run slower than 13.99, and 11.99 with a roll cage, this was amended to...
My Viper regularly got MUCH lower emissions readings than my older Honda Civic did, I was surprised when I first saw that.
But in the same way that gas guzzler taxes are skewed, C02 taxes are poor solution because specialty/performance cars are rarely daily drivers. And in reality you could...
I wonder what happened to the news that Chrysler had gotten as much as $35 million bid for the Viper, and had not disclosed that fact?
Chrysler hiding Viper bid? | Freep.com | Detroit Free Press
Maybe they were looking for the Viper to fly under the radar of the bankruptcy bean counters and stay...
I like the idea, if only to cement the thought in people's minds that the Viper is one of the world's BEST performing cars on the track.:drive:Regardless of price. :D
I think that the biggest improvement would be to swap out the Viper's gears.
With a 3.55 rear swap and spacing all 6 speed gear...
The SL55, CL55s and E55s are actually great deals today. I've seen used SL55s for less than $35K, and E55s for less than $30K ( under 40K miles). They are consistently fast, but they range more towards comfort and straight-line speed, than being nimble. ;)
The Z06 is a great car, but neither the Z06 nor the ZR1 are offered in convertible versions.
For me that's a big WIN right there! :D
Especially being as fast as he is with your rare, stylish Viper convertible compared to his modified Z06 coupe.
Yellow is a striking color, but you have to really like the attention that the extra visibility that the color brings. And of course this is already on top of the Viper's styling!
Personally, I would never own a yellow car.
Red is probably the most traditional performance car color, and is...
Road and Track pulled off a miserable 3.7 0-60 time, 11.9 1/4 mile at 124MPH, with a 0-100MPH time of 8.4 seconds. :(
Edmunds Inside Line pulled off 3.4 seconds to 60 (with 1 foot of rollout like on a drag strip) and completed the quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds at 124.2 mph with the ACR Viper...
I'm also not a fan of the H rims, even in black. The 5 spoke wheels look best to me, and I'd keep them in their stock polished finish. Normally I do not like the latest trend of matte finishes, nor black hoods. But with the slate color it works well.
One thing that bugged me from the beginning...
I wonder if you could order a Hurst ACR Viper? :D
With the combination of the Hurst interior, wheels, paint, and the ACR's brakes, tires, aero...
Raffle car anyone?
My guess is that Dodge would prefer the ACR Viper SRT10 to be running against racing convertible Ferraris rather than NASCAR anyways, so it's OK to pass on that idea. ;)
The ACR package is realistically just a nice collection of bolt-on bits to the regular Viper. :D
I cannot see anything but an improvement in the car's overall performance by adding more track focused suspension, grippier brakes/tires and adding the aero bits to the convertible. Dodge already...
