Do you guys (or gals) refuse to go catless because of emissions ??

It's a trade-off. Certainly removing the whole exhaust system and using straght pipes would likely give the car more power and provide a cooler interior as well. But being able to meet ever-harsher smog tests, and gain some power, while being cooler running than stock is a nice compromise to me...

Do you guys (or gals) refuse to go catless because of emissions ??

Adding high flow cats gets you most of the power gain of running catless, but without having to worry about smog. Plus for me they lowered the side sill temps quite a bit over stock. :2tu:

What is the GTS and SRT/10 times at "The Ring'?

Re: What is the GTS and SRT/10 times at The "Ring" is an absolutely terrible judge of performance cars, UNLESS they are run at the track hundreds (or in the case of Porsche 911s thousands) of times. There is zero accounting of weather, road, traffic conditions, or driver skill or...

    viper/vette

Lowered springs are OK if you really want to drop the Viper's height a lot, but since the Viper already has some ground clearance issues even stock, I decided to go with a less dramatic lowering solution. Northwind Engineering makes low profile coil caps which replace the stock, taller coil...

Fully upgradeable, Front Mount DIY twin turbo systems Available Soon!

Paolo, Your DIY TT setup looks very appealing. :2tu: Any idea about how it will do relative to California smog compliance? Have you set it up on any creampuff Vipers yet? How much boost do you think that you could run safely on a creampuff Viper? And what kind of power would you...

20,000 miles possible on stock GEN II tires????

24K on my rears before needing replacement, original fronts still have good tread on them, and I expect another 10K miles out of them with luck.

    Coolest convertibles for 2005

It's actually lucky that they made the cutoff at $80K. ;) From their comments about the Viper (uncomfortable, hot cockpit, etc..), and them choosing the Panoz Esperante for the next most expensive convertible choice above the Viper, and the Corvette below it. Their judgements were...

    EBC Redstuff brake pad opinions?

I have been running reds out back and greens up front for years and it works great for me on the street. I find that normally the front brakes have a tendency to lock up on hard braking and the grabbier reds out back make for balanced braking by putting the rear tires to work more. :laugh...

    MILEAGE IMPACT ON VALUE

I also had to make the choice about driving the Viper regularly or not, but ultimately that's one of the reasons why I didn't buy a car like a Ferrari. I always wanted a stylish, fast, performance car that I can actually drive, rather than owning a garage queen or "investment" that I only enjoy...

Copperheads are in, and HERE ARE THE PICTURES!

I like the Copperhead color! I just saw a Ram truck with the Go-Man-Go color, and it looks fairly close to this. The new wheels look fine, but not particularly special to me. I don't like black wheels or black hoods much (except on black cars), but if you just did the hood scoop in...

List of Modded cars over 500rw

Mine's certainly not at the top of any Viper power list at 547RWHP/608RWTQ, but I do drive mine daily and race on occasion. So far I've put about 16K miles after the mods with no real problems so far.

Top Gear & Fifth Gear Videos open directory (download them NOW!!!!)

Yeah, they have such blatant bias that it really is painful to watch. Tiff was OK, but the other guy was pompous and clueless. Doubling the price that we pay certainly hurts, but there is no excuse for having nothing at all good to say about ANY convertible performance car that can run well...

British 5th Gear Viper vs. Vette

The British (and most of the European) automotive press is so badly biased against American cars it's no surprise that they disliked these two great cars. Still, with importers gouging so badly on the prices, the Corvette and Viper both lose their huge price/performance advantage that we enjoy...

I got lost in the Nitrous store

I had bought a NOS progressive controller and solenoid setup to work with my NX system but after reading the install instructions which essentially state that they are expecting for the solenoid to fail under regular use because of pulsing it (which necessitates having anothe safety solenoid...

Thinking about trading the Viper..... see pics??

The F50's engine sounds great, but even though it's rare to find fast cars that are much less practical than a Viper, the F50 is definitely one of them. :o The biggest problem that I have with super exotic cars is that they really lose their value when they are driven. :( The F50 is a...

How do you drive your Viper???

I drive my car pretty normally on the roads, but I drive mine most every day. Still, getting onto the freeway or on cloverleafs can be great fun when the road is clear. I also find it funny when some woman in a SUV or kid in a Civic thinks that they are going to zoom ahead to block me from...

    E-Bay or Autotrader?

I bought one car from Autotrader, and two (including my Viper) on E-Bay, and I've successfully sold 3 cars on E-bay, and unsuccessfully listed two cars for sale on Autotrader. I actually like Autotrader better as you can search more specifically than E-Bay. Especially by location, mileage...

RT/10 or GTS What is your opinion?

Even though I love the sweeping lines of the GTS, I love open cars best. And with the hardtop off, the R/T10 looks extra low and wide. :2tu:

Dragstrip results: SRT/10 w/Paxton, heads, 3.55s, DRs, etc.

It was good to see you there Ben. And lucky that you survived the coolant slip-and-slide on your early run! I was disappointed to only get 3 runs in for the whole night, but it was still a fun event. The weather cooled down pretty quickly, and I was having a terrible time getting...

How is my track times for my mods?

Your trap speed is very good, showing lots of power. Nip the 60ft time under 2 seconds and you might see high 11s with some practice. I had heard that you don't want to get the stock tires under 24PSI because you get less traction with the tires only making contact on the outside edges. Also...

Any help here would be appreciated....Dyno results

Sometimes there are power spikes at the end of a dyno run if it's not done right, which can skew the numbers. Frankly I don't see the original 19RWHP gain from just smooth tubes and filters. Maybe half that is closer to average. Add to that switching dynos and that would easily explain the...
