Yeah, the high definition resolution and great looking rendering are impressive.
And you can play Where's Waldo finding the GTS Viper. ;)
As always the game is focused on the Japanese cars, but it still does feature the Viper, and hopefully when the final game comes out it will have the '08...
I think that the SRT engineers were talking about more heavy-duty tweaking, like remapping the car's chip and adding superchargers and turbos.
But the first couple tuners that have done simple bolt-on mods like adding high flow cats and long tube headers found an extra 65+HP above stock, and...
Nobody who is serious about wanting a high performance car goes to Consumer Reports or MSN Autos for an unbiased review.
These guys are fine for comparing a Civic against a Corolla, just don't expect them to understand what a Viper is all about.:smirk:
I think that any slow sales right now are...
Jeff, It came out great! :D
I'll also throw in my thanks for sharing the process and progress of this transformation with all of us.
You have a lot to be proud of, from the great looking design, to the methodical and detail oriented execution.
Kudos.
This has more to do with the market, average age, and preferences of buyers than some deficiency of the Corvette.
In 2007 over 76% of convertible Corvette buyers bought their car equipped with an automatic transmission, and 66% of the Coupe buyers bought their cars with an auto.
Only the Z06...
My guess is that Dodge is going to provide a dealer free-breather (fire breather?) package that has intake, cat and exhaust mods that boost power by 75HP (as shown by the tuners).
They had a similar set of dealer mods for the SRT-4 Neon that were not factory installed options, but could be...
2000 R/T10 with 30K miles, and I put 22K miles on it in myself over the last 5 years.
For about 3 years I drove it to work every day, but that was only a 3 mile round trip.
Despite driving it regularly, I still get excited getting behind the wheel and taking it out on the road, especially with...
Thanks for doing that. Now I can see that it's the flash that makes the blue interior accent color look pale and plastic in the pictures that I've seen before. The real deeper blue color shown in your pictures is a nice, stylish accent for the Viper blue paint, and looks great. :D
I'm another one of those people who do NOT like black hoods on anything but black cars.
It always looks like someone wrecked their hood, bought a new one, and was too cheap to paint it. :(
The aggressiveness of the hood design would likely look OK if the car was painted body color.
I know...
I agree with you about the Ring times, as they are not really representative of ANY car's time unless the cars are campaigned at the track.
Chevy took an expert team of drivers and engineers out to the Ring to get their top times, and of course Porsche has the Ring as a neighborhood testbed...
I'd also back off a bit to running a 150 shot. Getting the A/F mix right is key.
You won't have much of a problem if you are running rich, but it's critical not to run too lean. :(
Outside of the cool looking gigantic power numbers there is the point of what that power is doing to your otherwise...
Congratulations on your choice! I think that you are going really enjoy your new Viper, and the hardest part is going to be waiting for it to arrive. :D
It was a fun, and generally flattering review of new Viper. The only exception that I had was that they repeatedly kept calling it a musclecar. Which is inaccurate, and even if it's stated as being the king of musclecars, it's a sleight because musclecars are as often associated with being quick...
I think that she is simply out of her element. The magazine's assumption is that a race car driver in one class, also knows how to compare high performance production cars.
Clearly she knows little about the specifics of each of these cars. The cars that she races have little in common with...
I've been watching your project with anticipation. I like the styling of Jeff's SRT Viper body package, and it will be great to see how your car comes out.
It's going to look great regardless of what color you choose, although I personally favor the HOK Kandy red over the Snakeskin green. :D
My guess is that the 2008 Viper has enough improvements to satisfy most all buyers already for this year.
But it's also logical to expect to see those changed gears, another HP bump, adjustable suspension, and carbon fiber body panels to lighten the car on the upcoming ACR Viper.:2tu:
Let's...
Personally, I don't care that much about acceleration over 160MPH, because at least around here there is no sane place to drive that fast in public.
She is used to a high revving, short geared, Gallardo, and similarly setup race cars.
So it makes sense that she wouldn't understand the power...
It would have been interesting to see the Viper convertible in there too as the handling braking is about the same, but it's 50lbs lighter than the coupe, so it might be a bit quicker.
The Z06 has no convertible version unfortunately to compare to, and the regular Corvette convertible would...
And Car and Driver has also posted their review of the '08 Viper against the Z06 Corvette.
http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/13894/2008-dodge-viper-srt10-v-2007-chevrolet-corvette-z06.html
Interestingly, the new Car & Driver test showed the 2008 Viper to perform almost identically...
