I wish I was. I'm back in Colorado for a few weeks. Are you running tomorrow? If so, tell Phil I said Hi. I was there a couple of weeks ago with Chin. Seemed like an all Porsche event. Not that there's anything wrong with that. One orange Viper in the Novice group I think. My next event...
I guess that makes sense. The CC was about seven seconds a lap faster than the ACR. Roughly 5 seconds due to the weight difference and a couple seconds due to the tire compound maybe. It would be interesting to see someone convert an ACR to a race car and see how it would compare racing...
When you ran these lap times what tires did you have on each car? Were the suspension settings and aero on the ACR optimized for the track? Do you think the biggest difference between the two cars is weight? I would think 400 pounds could be worth about 4 seconds a lap.
I agree. If you want more of a track car than a street car I would start with an ACR and gut it. Do it so that it can always be restored to stock. It would be interesting to see what kind of lap times (relative to a Comp Coupe) the car could generate at ~3,000 pounds with track pads and slicks.
I've heard various reports of brake fade from road course use on ACR's. Has anyone determined if the weak link is the fluid, pads, rubber lines or the calipers themselves? Thanks.
There was a rear gear thread awhile back related to road course use. If I remember correctly, a guy and his buddy whom each have comp coupes changed the gears and compared before and after lap times. While the cars felt faster they actually got slower lap times. They attributed this to the...
C'mon Chuck! Can't we all just get along! :rolaugh: And no, you can't tell me to go back to the Z06 forums as my ACR is being delivered Monday morning.
Mike
I've owned 6 Z06's and a Z51 C6 over the last several years and now I'm waiting for my ACR to be delivered (my first Viper). My thought is that historically the cars that dominated the Nring have been very high priced exotics. For the first time there is an opportunity to buy, what is for now...
They do seem to take longer to heat up than say a Hoosier on the track. Usually about 4 or 5 laps compared to 1 or 2 for a Hoosier. I don't know that you could get them up to optimum temps on the street but for street driving at 70-80% I never had an issue with them. It's a great compromise...
Good to see someone tracking an ACR. Especially in a monsoon. Can you make any comparisons to other cars you've tracked or other cars at the track regarding lap times? Just trying to get an idea of the relative track performance of the car. Thanks.
Does anyone know under what color/stripe combinations the rear wing would be painted and when it would be clear coated carbon fiber? I saw a blue one yesterday with the wing painted and was thinking that the wing would look better if you could see the carbon fiber like the front splitter. Thanks.
