Lamin-X Tinted Headlights on my Orange ACR

Well I needed to have the car covered in clear bra and thought I would see how the Lamin-X tinted film looked on my striped ACR. I have yet to see it in the direct sun, but I think it looks pretty good. The Lamin-X is much thicker than the clear bra, and since it might see rock hits at higher speeds I thought I would give it a try.

The flash is reflecting in the HIDs so I hope I will get some pictures tomorrow in the sun without the flash.

How thick is it, you have to be careful, the heat will build up and possible crack the lens. I have seen this with cheap clear bra film purchased on ebay. Just FYI

I've heard the same thing from a vendor who actually sells tinting material for lenses. And those are expensive lenses.

I think it is 17 mils thick.

They will not cause the lights to craze. I have been working with that film for a while and its safe to use. I have never seen any problems... but I have seen lights craze without any film on them (Corvettes and 350Zs).

I have the same film on my headlights, however, in clear. I almost went with the smoked, but was worried it would be too dark, and didn't want any legal hassles. I must admit, that's a perfect shade though, and looks fantastic on your car!

I have had mine on for a couple years now with no problems. Just a heads up on night driving the headlights are greatly reduced. Ihave to run high beams but no problems with on comming traffic. You can see a pic of it if you search ( new look). Looking to get my tail lights done soon.

Yep! The car looks sweet, but that's a sacrifice I would never make.

Looks good Lawrence. I've got mine slightly darker as well and even with HIDs haven't had a problem with heat.

The darkened headlight covers are a bit too Ricer for me but the clear ones to protect are a great idea. I would nevar want something on my lights that reduces the light either. Love the orange color though. That looks sweet. Its one of those colors that looks SOOOO good outside in the sun.

The film only reduces light output by 10%. I thought it would match the missing driving lights...as many thought I had already darkened the driving lights.

I used my lighter tint Overlays for both my headlights and tails. Subtle, but you could notice the difference.

That is the only draw back be nice if they were simple to remove but, then I guess they would blow away at throttle up.

I had 3M installed elsewhere. That is the typical preference of most installers I have encountered. I actually had a place say they could not do the ACR as they were afraid of the front end....

Stock Gen 3 and 4 Vipers run HID's factory. HID bulbs run cooler then halogen bulbs. The headlights heating up, cracking, crazing is due to the halogen bulbs. Very unlikely with a HID.

I agree, and its not like I drive in the dark very much.
