A GenIII-IV with 3.73 rear gears and a .64 6th gear would have its top speed of just over 200 mph very close to 6,000-6,200 rpm in 6th gear - in other words perfect gearing.
I have a .80 5th and .64 6th in my Gen II. Along with rear end gears my favorite modification. My transmission tech sourced my gears from Rockland Gear in New York - they were stock parts from the Aston Martin version of the transmission. For the Gen IV 6060, I know that the CTS-V version has...
I bought a used differential with 3.55 installed by Unitrax who also did there posi mods. I think I paid $1,100 for the unit then had Fat Albert's shop install it for me since I do not have a lift - so about $1,500 for me but I think that was a pretty good deal. I gave my stock unit away so did...
If I sit on my back patio I can watch planes take off from Scottsdale municipal airport (11k takes offs and landings per month IIRC). On Sundays there is an endless line of biz jets taking off - from straight wing Citations to G5s and Challengers. To me, THOSE people are rich, but I sure that...
0) Tom's 40mm brake upgrade (that is so important I assumed it & forgot to put it on my list). And BTW, the sticky tires + Tom's modded rear calipers = WAY better braking.
I bought a vacuum pump style bleeder (thank you fellow board member Jim Wilson for suggesting it) and what I learned most from it was that attaching a tube to the bleeder sure does save a lot of mess - and in turn as Tom suggests saves a lot of fluid touching the caliper. Just run a hose from...
I have the box that electronically corrects for my 3.55 gears. I am now going from 18" to 19" rears tires so I figure I should alter my DIP switch settings so they are around 3.33 gearing in order to be correct. I can't find my initial directions from the box. Anyone have a chart for the DIP...
BTW (I posted over on your other thread), I am getting the Nitto NT05s for $1,332 + mounting at my local shop (who is not a vendor on this board). That is a good $500 cheaper than my Toyo R888s cost.
Do not forget the new, stickier Nitto NT05 is now available in the Viper 18"/19" fitment. 200 wear rating. Nitto shows it as being noisier than the Invo, but stickier. I'm putting 18"/19" 2009-10 6-spokes on my GTS and going with the NT05s, but won't be able to report on how they compare t my...
I've said it before and I'll say it again: if this is a problem then move to Scottsdale (or Newport - maybe even Miami - not sure about that, never been there). When you drive a Viper here everything thinks you are poor because you don't have a Ferrari, Lambo, Aston Martin or even AMG.
Fresh R compound tires solved my wheel hop issues (and yes it will break things - I blew a half-shaft u-joint). Even when they spin they no longer hop like the old Pilots did.
Hey Sweet Ride: you won't hop (at least so hard) if you buy those Toyo R888s from me! :D
Not calling for nannies - I love the Viper as it is and am a tireless advocate of this "mans' care," but as a lawyer, I think it is at least borderline negligent to sell or rent these machines (especially a Gen IV) without some sort of training. If you think about it, it would be a really cool...
Detlef did your Gen II center caps fit right into the new 6-spokers? I just ordered some 6-spokes for my own GTS and was wondering If I will be able to re-use my center caps with the Sneaky Pete logo.

Was at my local small batch powder coater today and they had set of Wilwood calipers on the counter. Said they have coated hundreds for the same local customer who brought this pair of four pistons in. All the customer does is remove the rubber dust covers and clean out any fluid. Then the...
But I already have a 708 cam installed from the factory so it is free! In any event I decided to go pimp and buy some wheels and tires so the head project is back on the back burner.
Itching to do heads leads to two questions:
1) if I have some decent skills, is R&Ring heads a DIY proposition? or are there some sort of surprises in the project?
2) is the idea worth it if I keep my 708 camshaft?
Link for reference to what I'm thinking about:

When you think of the extraordinary costs of Viper mods you could be missing out on a huge benefit if you rule out cars with mods. Think about it, you can look at a set of Belanger headers, pull the side sills and see what the exhaust looks like, and BAM right there you saved $4,000. Air box...
