I did this many years ago...likely shortly after I got my 2000 GTS new. I'd have to find the pictures I took. If memory serves, I used the dash lighting wire for the rear defrost switch and fed it with a new wire to the window switch. I also changed the switch LEDs to amber from the green that...
No complaints at all. It is portable, the power unit has wheels and a pin that hooks into one end of the lift, and it can be rolled around. It's heavy, but certainly can be moved.
A friend of mine has a body shop and we both went to Greg Smith in Delaware with my car trailer to bring two of...
I have no connection with a lift company....
I bought one from Greg Smith. I got the TD6MR (I think) a few years ago and have used it alot. A huge help with detailing. (I also have a 4 post)
I apologize upfront if a link isn't allowed....but mine is similar to this...
I changed the headlight in my former 96 GTS without removing the fascia. I did pull the fog lamp, cover and access plug. Then, with a variety of wrenches, ratchets, etc...it was possible. Perhaps turning the front wheels to the left or right is helpful too.
Anyhow, if you have some patience, it...
When trailering...no cover. The wind will cause the cover to beat the snot out of the paint. Facing forward. Fitment to rental trailers is difficult as the Viper is low and wide...may fit on some.
Open trailers are really only slightly better than driving the car. The car is still open to the...
dave6666...thanks. I will try to lube them and see what happens.
Yes, I am talking about the gap at the wheel house between the fascia and the edge of the hood, behind teh headlights. The line across the hood between the headlights (over the Viper emblem) is even. To perhaps be more clear...if...
I did a search...but what I'm finding isn't making sense.
When my 2000 was new, the hood-fascia gap behind the headlights directly in front of the wheels was the same on both sides. Now, the driver's side is substantially wider...in fact the double the distance on the passenger side.
The...
The radio bezel has all clips....and some "velcro" at the corners by the shifter.
To just remove the radio bezel, the headlight switch doesn't have to be removed..but to pull the dash...
The headlight switch shaft needs to be removed...if memory serves you insert an awl, paper clip or similar...
To remove the stock isolator, a crowfoot wrench is helpful.
I got one of Rich's pieces for my 00 GTS when it was new...it's still there and a great piece. Did exactly what I wanted to do. When I got my '96 RT a couple years ago, I tried to get another...but (no offense intended here) I couldn't...
I'm thinking the original poster may have something similar to what I've done in both of my cars. That is, to remove the factory isolator and replace it with a shorter shaft. I can post pictures if it helps, but the isolator reminds me of a closed umbrella that screws into the lever on the...
I realize I'm late to this party, but will concur that simple rubbing alcohol emulsifies and removes tree sap. I've used it for years and keep it in those squirt bottles with the gooseneck like you'd use in a lab.
Alcohol is cheap and works. It will remove your wax or sealant...but any type of...
The old visors are vinyl, my 2000 GTS has cloth visors. On my GTS, I just swapped them side to side...now the warning stickers are against the roof...I don't use the visors anyway.
Perhaps the RT's all come with vinyl, the GTS with cloth?
I must be the exception to the rule, but I've had factory mats in my 2000 GTS since new with no bunching under the pedals.
Regardless, the factory mats were disco'd years ago...it would be a tough find now.
I don't think it's worth 90...but I've seen a gentle rise in early car prices since I bought my '96 RT. As one that prefers the early cars over the other generations (have a 00 GTS too)...I still think the '92s have a bit of a dilemma in going to huge money. With minor differences, they look...
You guys are all working at it too hard. I just saw a VW commercial where they just slam the car doors and stuff falls out of trees....just take a Jetta over near the building and slam the door!
(Huh, what's that? It's just for TV, VWs really aren' that tough?)
Well.....here's the deal.
According to the 1997 Viper brochure...sparkle silver, sparkle gold, yellow or polished wheels on the GTS. It lists silver sparkle as "standard". (FWIW, same on the RT that year) Sparkle gold only on red cars.
None of them had "chrome" wheels, they were polished aluminum and cleared.
I just looked in my old Viper parts book for 1997-98 and there are listings for wheels in gold, silver and polished aluminum.
Perhaps the silver wheels are as rare on a GTS as the gold ones?
If you need to reuse the seal, a pickle fork is not what you want to use. Ive not separated these on a Viper....but in other cars, you'd use a puller. Looks like a horseshoe with a bolt going through.
