The car will not start if the VEC is burnt out (I just dealt with this).
You can try to take the VEC out of the loop by putting the injector harness back to stock (connect the harness back into itself without the VEC inline) and taking the VEC out of the CAS wiring. This will allow you to start...
I don't agree with cam at all. W/M is a great way to cool the Roe (and the only way currently).
Also, these motors are tough. I would bet you didn't hurt it. Hydrolock would mean the engine will seize up as you turn in over. You'll know when you try to start it.
No praying necessary ;)
Some good advice so far.
Like CSXT said, pull all the plugs (you are going to want to try new ones anyway) and crank it over to make sure there is no puddling of w/m in the cylinders.
Disconnect / turn off the w/m system for now.
Depending on how much washed down, you may have to change your...
The Innovate LM-1 is a good plug in meter that can be connected to read and log a bunch of different parameters. It is not a gauge, but a tool to use when needed.
Its a little more expensive, but it supposed to be the most accurate afr meter you can buy.
Agree with plum on this. 1/8NPT fitting on a -3 or -4 line on the manifold.
Another possibility though, would be to add a coupling into the fuel line at the manifold with an 1/8NPT tapped hole.
Something similar to this:
BTW, if you have a set of calipers, measure your intake ports (in standard please). I have the measurements to my JM stage3 heads right here and you can compare them to yours. I don't think they will be quite as large as mine, since mine are definitely port matched to the gaskets, but it will...
Well, considering that is just for ventilation, it is not a normal oil passage and is not in the pressurized oiling system of the block. I can't really tell from my block now since it is all back together, but I would guess that there is not much between it and the oil pan, as in passages or...
I haven't had any issues with the stock fues box or PCM, but mounting my VEC directly under that hole was a bad idea. I don't really drive in rain, but when I wash my car, I always put a plastic bag over my VEC and over the hole for the interior ventilation duct / airbox.
Quite a bit of water...
Tony,
CCV and PCV are both ventilating the crank case, so they are essentially the same ;)
That is on top of the oiling system, so it will be in the block oil passages.
I have seen those cameras for rental at AutoZone.
Yeah, there is a hole under the speaker cover. Something the previous owner did. I'm not sure how much it helps, but I do see heat coming from it while idling.
uvbnbit,
I love your all black look with the Roe :)
I'm really thinking of getting my valve covers done exactly the same as yours.
Here was mine before the engine rebuild. I'm thinking of doing something different soon after I get it all put back together.
My guess would be those heads are ported. The stock ports are not that close to the size of the intake gasket. The finish in the port is also a give away.
Take a pic of the valve stem area to give us an idea of the work around the guides.
That rubber piece will take some work. I would pull...
Carl's red&white GTS is in awesome shape. First Viper I ever rode in :D
Great trade for someone looking to go to a GTS but doesn't want to take a big hit on selling and buying another Viper.
Good luck :)
I think using a VEC and SCT together would be a tuning nightmare. Then you have 2 controllers making changes. I see that just being a huge game of chase your tail until you get dizzy and give up.
Not to mention, for the cost of a VEC and SCT, you could buy an AEM.
It would be a huge downfall...
Good info Dan. This is the kind of stuff that needs to be posted about the SCT. This helps people understand the product and what you need to use it.
The PCMscanner sounds like a cool tool and not a bad price.
The W/M controller will still be work to rewire and I already have a clog-detector...
