Just in case the previous post was too "Berkeley", I'll include this for balance: WAR TEENAGE VIPER OWNERS! WAR STARBUCKS WORKERS!! WAR CURMUDGEONS!!!

Where do you go from here.....

Hey, don't worry so much about what the other guys got or how old he was when he got it or how hard he had to work for it. We're all tremendously well off and probably we're all spoiled, but go ahead and enjoy it. I know 99% of the people in this world probably work far, far harder for far...

Pay no attention to that red light...

Which one were you? I should think you could do better than 17.9 seconds... kidding. Great run! What runs 17.9 anyway, an SUV?

Does anyone have any ideas on how to remove the nut under the shifter?

Well, I've gotten french fries pretty far back under the seat, but never managed to lose nuts under the shifter. I use a vacuum cleaner in small circular motions to collect debris in the car....

What have you had to sacrifice?

I traded my soul to Old Scratch when I was 26 years old for a brand spanking 99 ACR. Wasn't using my soul anyway and giving it up was a weight reduction good for 0.3 seconds. Two years down the road I haven't regretted a thing yet.... Cheers.

Anyone know what this red bolt is????

That's the bolt that holds the whole car together. It must be kept torqued down to 120 lbs at all times. Oh, wait, I'm thinking of the one on the bottom of the oil pan. Nevermind.

    Service at dealership

Well, I've had several lousy Dodge service experiences with both the Viper and the Ram, so it's not the car that's the problem. I grant most dealerships have skilled technicians who deserve respect. Negherbon Dodge in Oakland, CA, is seriously horrible. I took the Viper there for an oil...

    Test Drive Joke?

For a test drive, go in prepared: well dressed, well spoken, and with a couple financial documents that demonstrate your ability and serious interest in the vehicle. They may still say no, but at least then you know it's not the Willie Nelson/bum/crazy man thing. For a test ride, come up to...

What triggered you to buy your first Viper? What was it?

I did a little comparison shopping, didn't quite know what I wanted to replace my old 94 Mustang Gt. I considered a Porsche 911, Jaguar XK8, and lots of others. In the end, the Viper seemed to have the best power to cost to wow ratio. In the San Francisco area, Porsches are as common as...

0-100-0 shootout: Viper and many others

This is awful! According to their test a Ford Mustang did 0-100-0 in 16.51s compared to the Viper at 16.91s. If I had known that I never would have sold my 94 Mustang! Nik

    key and paint problem, advice?

So, it finally happened. Some pusillanimous toad keyed my Viper the other night. Parked in a lit and "guarded" lot while I was at dinner, and the aforementioned putrescent muckdweller added a two foot long scratch down the top of the passenger side rear quarter-panel. Other than justifiable...

    California Smog

Well, since I happen to have had my 2000 Dodge Dakota smog tested in CA yesterday, I have the numbers in front of me. Here they are, with max allowable (where specified) and mine for comparison. I don't have the results from my Viper or I would have posted them. At 2500rpm: HC (ppm) max: 170...

    Drag race results

Thanks for the info. Of course, I enjoyed it!! I did shift into 4th on the fastest runs, just checking. My 60ft time was 2.051s. Seemed like the best launches were starting at really low rpms, letting the tires bite, and then giving it full throttle. I've heard Sears Point is a "slow" drag...

    Drag race results

Ok, so I took my Viper drag racing for the first time ever (both for me and the car) at Sears Point yesterday. My results were: 12.470 seconds @ 116.09 mph Here are my questions: 1. Is it possible to calculate real horsepower from time, weight, and distance? Or do the variables of...

    My new ACR campaign belts.

I've repeatedly asked my dealership and they claim that there is no official recall on the ACR harnesses. I've even brought in the press release and they've denied it is a recall. I'd sure love to know how to get them replaced.... Cheers.

VCA at Grand Prix of Sonoma, Sears Point

Good news! I've just found that we may be able to do a Parade Lap on Sunday. This is dependent on scheduling concerns, etc, but my contact at Sears Point said he might be able arrange it. We should plan on gathering at the Viper Car Corral around 11am to find out if this will happen. If you...

    Riddle Me This Batman.....

Well, maybe not exactly. Doesn't the tire deform slightly as it contacts the road surface? Something about coefficients of elasticity and a slight frictional resistance to rolling? I'd guess that the speed of the tire at the point of contact is exactly zero only in a massless, frictionless...

Virginia City Hil Climb Top Viper (anybody)?

Mike did an awesome job! I was there and I guess I don't feel particularly humiliated. He is a great driver with a fast car and a lot of experience at the hill climb. He was also running slicks which makes for a massive difference in corner speed, essential on the hill. It was a truly an...

    Codes

I have the service manual for a 99 Viper which lists all the codes, and I doubt they've changed. Is there a specific one you need referenced? The list is way too long for me to type them all....
