    Any Progress On a Hardtop?

Ok, exactly what safety benefit does the hardtop provide to make it "required" to drive the car on track? I really don't see autoform claiming any rollover protection and I sure can't imagine any other organization claiming protection. The only thing I can imagine is that the hardtop would...

    SRT/10 Musings - long

That's why the seats amaze me so much - they did not go with the percentile to fit a bigger guy - they are perfect for 160-180 lb guys. It would be kind of cool if you could order a seat size - you sure can with race seats, which come in 1" width increments - surely that would not be too costly...

    THE STING

Let's put it this way: if the new dealer did not have your order confirmed and in hand, then they were not entitled to receive the car in the first place and DC is complicit in delivering YOUR car to a dealer other than that from which you ordered the car. This dealer CANNOT accept the benefits...

    THE STING

Sue them immediately and get an injunction to prevent them from selling the car while the lawsuit is pending! I am completely confident that the new owner will be subject to the prior owner's agreements by way of (1) the sales agreement between the two dealers; (2) the dealer approval...

    SRT/10 Musings - long

Oh, I almost forgot it was such a non-issue. No side sill heat to speak of. It was a cold day, but I went on 1+ hour drives and would have expected to detect some interior heat. I am confident the press' side-sill diatribe is a non-issue.

SRT 10 owners: ease of oil change?

Ditto - looks like a snap! I did notice a low-hanging A/C line right in front of the oil pan - that is a casualty waiting to happen and I plan to fabricate an aluminum shield for that rubber hose.

    Any Progress On a Hardtop?

I actually think the top has no mag in it. The front section that doubles as a tonneau was pretty flexy and feels like plastic or a composite. I could be wrong, but I think the big mag piece is the section at the cowl & dash area. Weight is one area where GM really did get it right compared...

    SRT/10 Musings - long

I would say that the SRT an RT are about the same weight, then, but remember the RT might be weighed with no top. Advertised weight for the SRT is 3380, so my weights seem to be pretty accurate.

    SRT/10 Musings - long

I had the good fortune to spend 3 days driving a Silver SRT/10 and thought I'd give my thoughts. I like to be a bit of an iconoclast and am not quite the Stepford Viper Owner many others are, so hopefully this will be farily objective. For perspective, I have a '93 RT/10 and 2001 GTS for...

    Buying a 1993 Viper HELP

Anecdotally, I have a 21,000 mile '93 that I bought new 9 years ago. No head gasket problems thus far. I wonder how many head gasket/Arrow jobs have been done to the 5,000 plus '92-96 Vipers out there. The percentage better be pretty high, otherwise the few vocal head gasket problems and...

Tech help needed re: Tuning bugs

Look carefully at how the EVAP emissions system works and what GROSS LEAK means. I had a similar problem with my '98 when it was brand new and bone stock, and my recollection is that the EVAP system actually includes a vacuum pump that cycles and checks for leaks anywhere in its system. Is it...

    Supercharged VEC2 testing results...

I noticed the calibration data file appears to have been marked for '96-99 GTS; what will be the story for later cars? Different calibration for the cast pistons and what power do you anticipate? Thanks,

    3M Paint Protection Film

My philosophy is a bit different. It takes about 30 minutes to remove the front fascia and mirrors. So rather than cover them with something that does not look that great, I just have them repainted when they get beat up enough - about every 2 years the chips get to be enough to warrant...

OK, Car Audio Wizards, How Do I...

I bought a 12-disc canger with FM modulator at Fry's Electronics for $130 or so for my tow vehicle; you should be able to get comparable deals at discount places.

    Crower roller rockers

Well if the box has info contrary to their web site advertising, then you are right, Crower has a problem here. The sets I installed (over a year ago on the latest) had no disclaimers about 5500 rpm, but if they have added disclaimers and you can't go to the factory rev limit, then the parts...

D Rings vs E Channel Tie downs

I have E-track in my trailer and simply love it. Plenty strong and it gives you total flexibility on positioning the car(s) inside the trailer and has proved plenty strong for tying down cars. I never tie down to tires - I always tie down to the frame or use axle straps, depending on the car...

    Another driving school question

There are many driving school options, depending on what you want to do, what you want to spend, and so on. And did you know you live near the MotorSport Ranch, a club track open to members on a regular basis and Bobby Archer's "home" track? At the low end of the spectrum, instruction in your...

    Crower roller rockers

I was just relaying my personal experience and the fact that I have had good luck with Crower roller rockers specifically designed for the Viper. I was unaware of any 5500 rpm restrictions or caveats from Crower (see more below) - I will say that the design is such that valve float has more...

    Crower roller rockers

I have 30,000+ miles with three Vipers using Crowers on all of them with no problems and track time on all the Vipers. That pic looks like the retaining washers were never there and it looks like there is a stud girdle, so I wonder if those Crowers are the Viper-specific parts. I have heard of...

    ATT:CRAIG 201,IIEONE,TIEPILOT,SNAKEBITTEN AND MR WOODHOUSE..

Yep, still sell 'em - same simple product and the new lot has even better QC (about 4-5 of the first batch had some bad joints at the valve, so it leaked a little). Much easier and more reliable than "burping." I have a set on my GTS and my RT/10. Keith

traded in the viper for a ........

Totally different car and if you sold due to "market" prices, then sorry, that's a cop-out and you did not really like the Viper enough to begin with. Both will depreciate at comparable rates; no new car is an investment, barring perhaps some ultra-exotics. For example, how much less than...

Interesting 99 Black ACR on eBay... belong to anyone here on the board?

Like I said, if the seller balks at a pre-bid inspection, RUN, do not walk, away. Sounds way too fishy to me and the market is flooded with legitimate cars right now. Pay an extra $1-$2K more (way less than 5%) and get a car that inspires confidence.

    Viper Wreck at PIR

Well said and that's why my RACE car is a Miata. I still track the Viper on occasion, but if you can't wad it up & walk away, don't race it.

    Viper Wreck at PIR

I agree with the comments that this mishap should never have been posted by an instructor. As a racer, I make mistakes every time I get in my car. Most are little, from overbraking before turn in (safe, but slow), to early apexing and putting two wheels off (not so safe, but very recoverable)...
