Place NOT to buy a race trailer!

I am taking the plunge with a trailer from "The Aluminum Trailer" company. www.aluminumtrailer.com Their staff has been very helpful in designing it and it will have not a stick of wood in it, with MIG welded chassis and extruded aluminum floor. Their references sing their praises and the...

How to purge the coolant ????

Use distilled water and any quality coolant with sufficient silicates for aluminum engines. Most on the market now are fine, given the number of aluminum engines out there. Then to purge air, may I selfishly recommend: http://www.viperclub.org/news/bleedersannouncement.html

Thinking about racing (yes, racing) the Viper - Advice?

You should contact Bobby Archer in Ft. Worth and others who race, in order to get an idea of budget and preparation. If "race" means wheel-to-wheel to you, you MUST have a roll cage and harnesses, at a minimum. If you want to club race, you are limited to T1 in SCCA and NASA or Viper Days...

911 Turbo owner new to board & looking into Vipers

I figure your tone and demeanor make you legit', so: The Viper is very, very different. I find my GTS to be perfectly daily drivable, but I suspect it rides a bit rougher and has not got quite the Teutonic build quality of the Porsche, nor does it have the interior room. But I value the...

Ready to buy tires and rims!

IMO, unless you want to change cosmetics (appearance) or dimensions (width or diameter or weight), you are wasting a large amount of money to "upgrade" wheels. If you want to upgrade performance, then you will have to add tires to the equation, as the stock tires will not fit upgraded wheels...

    GM ponders Corvette supercar

I welcome the competition, both Viper and Chevy "X" will benefit. I might like to see Chevy take over the Mosler MT900 - much of the work is done, mid-engine, composites and already chevy-powered and designed by a Chevy ex-pat. Check out www.mosleraouto.com. I personally like it and it...

Need Replacement O Ring for my Stock Prop Valve: Lessons in Brake Modification (long)

For one-wheel lockup, I would check corner weights, too. I used to have a similar problem in my RT/10 and no more due to coil-overs and precisely-set corner weights. Contact me off-line and I will search my attic for the O-ring that came out of my '98 - I saved it and no longer have the car...

    DIY Supercharger??

BKBLK or whatever, contact me. I am in Dallas and have a leg up on DIY S/C stuff. How long did the Mustang live as a daily driver? I daily drive a S/C car for about 3 yrs now with 13,000 miles. FMU WILL NOT work, at least not easily. There is no return line from the manifold to the tank and...

    DIY Supercharger??

Unless you have done some DIY blower installs YOURSELF, then you don't know how easy or difficult it might be on a Viper. Now, that 14 psi boosted Mustang; what other mods did you have and how long did it live? I'll bet that either (1) it had low compression forged pistons and some type of...

lets ask Bill Pemberton about engine noise!

No, not Bill here, but bought my '01 from him. First, some '01 cars had low oil pressure episodes when new. I did, changed the oil and no more problems. I am going to guess someone was too generous with assembly lube at assembly. Has everyone done an oil change and made sure the oil pressure...

    PLEASE, save this site.

I can't believe I agree with the Cali Kid. Pinch me! Not you, Kid. Seriously, the reason for the off-topic and off color diversions are as much the fault of those who rise to any barbs (or mistake smack for serious insults) as for the posters that start the threads. I am in favor of...

    Check engine with skipshift mod

The light goes on because the PCM self-tests and sees an open circuit where the solenoid should be. Get the JET skip shift eliminator, probably still listed for F-Bodies (which use basically the same transmission)- you can order from Summit and others. It has a dummy resistor load to make the...

    8 hours for an alignment!?!?!?

That's a bit much, but remember it really requires a 4-wheel alignment. You really want to be sure everything is square and true in addition to setting caster, camber and toe. Also, if you need an alignment due to any frame tweek, well the time can be more significant. Figure about 4-6 hrs...

Adelberg v. Sean Roe (Roe Racing)

I'm not saying not to point fingers! I'd just like to know exactly where the finger is aimed (and "East" is all I've heard so far). "Same as other post" tells me nothing. Since the kit appears to include just about everything but brake lines, questions abound. Plus, if it was a master...

Adelberg v. Sean Roe (Roe Racing)

Is it just me or has no one stated what the exact problem with Ken's brakes was? (and yes I know the rears stayed locked, but I don't know why) Was it a prop valve problem? Master cylinder problem? Adjustment or installation problem? And yes, I know that pre'-01 Vipers have very heavy front...

Adelberg v. Sean Roe (Roe Racing)

I have yet to hear what the "upstream" problem was. The smack and posturing are loads of fun, but I'd sure like to know what the problem was so I don't repeat it. For example, was it even a Roe-supplied part? The reason I ask is I have StopTech on my RT/10 (the front caliper/rotor kit) and it...

HELP - my '01 is blowing blue smoke!

Re: HELP - my \'01 is blowing blue smoke! I had the same thing happen to my '01 about 2 or 3 times in the first 1000 miles, right at startup. Very alarming, but the car used virtually no oil, had good power, and has not done it in the past 1000 (post break-in) miles. I say just watch your oil...

    Adelberg - out of line

Why the personal attacks in a technical discussion? In principle, brakes are simple hydraulic systems transmitting the master cylinder piston pressure to the caliper piston. It sounds as though something is causing residual pressure to be retained in the rear circuit. I highly doubt it is the...

    Coil Packs

Static resistance is only part of the equation; although I suspect it is not spec'd, the ratio of primary/secondary turns on the coils will give an indication of the voltage step-up. Also, the inductance may be significant, too and would be interesting to know. Let us know what coils you find...

Dallas, who is the best Viper-tech

King is right, and when you want a Viper tech to look the car over, Keith Laxson at Huffines in Lewisville is an excellent tech.

    New cooling system mod possible?

Rob, What you suggest is easy! The schrader insert can be easily unscrewed - one of the caps doubles as the tool. Then you can attach a hose to the fitting easily. That's exactly how I top off the cooing system.
