SRT/10 Now Allowed to Run at Viper Days!!

Watch Your Oil Pressure Those who track their SRT-10s, look out for a possible issue. I have tracked mine a few times at MotorSport Ranch but quit when I noticed a significant drop in oil pressure when in left hand sweepers and pulling significant G's. I know this was an issue with the Comp...

How many owners have come from GenII vipers to Gen III?

I have both. You need to decide for yourself, but my Gen III is gone as soon as I can get rid of it. 47 days in the shop since Feb delivery and a low oil pressure problem in left hand sweepers on track and I have no further interest in helping develop the car. The '04s may be better.

    Common Courtesy!!!!

I look at it this way: If there is enough markup in the part to bid it up and resell, then you havve to decide how much of "retail" you are willing to pay. The "pro" will stop bidding when the part gets close to retail (probably anything over 50-75%), so you can still save over the retail...

2001 yellow/black GTS on eBay warning......

All I can say is if a dealer (heck any seller of any car) KNEW a car had paint work or accident damage, no matter how minor, and deliberately refused to disclose it in response to a DIRECT question, that tells me the dealer also KNOWS that this information will affect the price and therefore the...

    Special on Ross forged Pistons

I don't understand why 10 custom pistons cost $1000 when 8 custom pistons (18 months ago, granted, and they were JE), were about $650 - or about $80 each.

    Cooling System Recall

I think I may have had this problem; the steering was notch and noisy, the P/S pump whined, and the car ran hot. The dealer replaced the P/S pump, but that was before the recall. So I will go back for the recall next week.

Taking rear bumper facia off for paint

I found it MUCH easier to simply remove the fascia with the core attached. Leave all the plastic rivets in place - 4 nuts (way deep inside) hold the rear fascia just like the front fascia. Much like the front fascia - I take it off with the core, rather than just pulling the skin off.

    The VCA needs your feedback

My list: '93 Viper '93 Jeep Cherokee '96 GTS '98 Neon '98 GTS '00 Prowler '01 GTS '01 Ram 2500 '03 SRT Sadly, due to what I perceive as improper treatment by DC over my '03 (I'll comment more when the litigation is over as there are two sides to every story), I doubt I'll buy any further DC...

    PCM Programming now available!!! L@@K!!

IMO this is helpful only if done on the dyno. Every time I tune, I find it takes 10 pulls or more to get everything right. Then my tune can change seasonally with oxygenated fuels being required for EPA requirements. Oh, I also find that a dynojet tune is too lean compared to the road, and I...

Calling all Roe S/C Software users!!!

not running that much boost, but happy to share timing & fuel curve info. In theory, the load tables should be similar up to 5-6psi boost, since the VEC-2 is MAP-driven. Starting with 4000 rpm, do you run advance at 5 psi?

    Hans Device? Feedback needed!

For track days, I don't know that it is essential unless there is a risk of collision. For racing, I would not go out without it, for the same reasons Bob expressed. In fact, I plan to add a seat with side protection for my head, as HANS only restrains fore and aft, but not for a T-bone impact...

Shifter Bounces Around and Car Hesitates in 6th

The prices seem high to me all around, including brakes. As for using 6th, I use it at 60 ALL THE TIME in all my Vipers for 10 years. Clearly the car must allow use of 6th below 80, since no posted speed limit is 80 and most are 65 or lower. By all means get a second opinion!

    Roe VEC-2 & tuning software

Yo, Joe, you coulda clicked on the link for Techedge in my post! But I guess you like to do it the hard way. I have not shared programs, no one here seems to have the software or use it, as best I can tell. And yes, the coding would seem to require me to insert box numbers and so on into my...

    Roe VEC-2 & tuning software

I use the OBD II explorer software - very inexpensive and works on all my vehicles: http://www.obd-2.com/ Unfortunately, it does not seem to provide actual injector on-times, so I shoot in the dark a little bit in how many milliseconds to adjust injectors. It also has a slow data rate of just...

    Roe VEC-2 & tuning software

I recently received my updated Roe VEC-2 and tuning software and after 3 days' use am very impressed! This is on the fringe of user-friendly in DIY way, but pretty easy if you pay attention. It is not of the caliber of AEM in terms of flexibility, but you won't lose OBDII compliance - my car...

    96 VS 97 GTS

Wheels are different - '96 wheels have been know to fail in spirited driving and sticky tires are a bad idea on '96 wheels. I have personally seen a '96 wheel fail and would not have a set on any car that gets driven hard.

    Flickering lights

Mine are fine and here's my understanding of the reason for the flicker and fix: The switch is designed to flow high current, and the contacts will self clean in those circumstances. Also all mechanical switches have some "bounce," that is the contacts can separate after initial contact for a...

AEM Engine Management System New Release

Excellent and good to hear! I agree that the average joe would have quite a time trying to get a base map, especially diveability matters such as tip-in throttle enrichment, cold start and that kind of thing.

    Roe supercharged intake

My stock ACR hoses have gentle bends in them to go down to airbox level, so I just rotate them 90 degrees and they fit pretty well - not perfect, but no kinks like you have. I also bet the kinks will go away if you bevel cut the ends of your straight hoses, so you can come off the TBs at an angle.

AEM Engine Management System New Release

Thanks for the info; are you a site sponsor? I take this as advertising, which I thought would go hand-in-hand with site sponsorship. This is your first post, though, and I am not sure your familiarity with AEM in other cars makes you a Viper expert. I might go more with the Viper tuner who...
