We live very close.... i'm right down RT.19. You need to drop the transmission to change it. Depending on your miles or if the slave leaked on your clutch it might also be a good time to change the clutch and flywheel. I had all this done last year on my low mile Gen1 from it sitting.
What part of Pittsburgh are you in? There are a few Viper owners in the Pgh area. I hear there is a tech at Laurel Valley Motors in Latrobe and West Pointe Dodge in Burgettstown.

A rebuilt Viper with a color change for $48,000.... good luck! It does look nice though. I would think more like $30,000 tops.
A few months back I bought one of Toms last sets. I recently installed them a few weeks ago, which was extremely easy by the way. They really do look great through the openings of my BBS LM wheels. I think Tom should start making these again. :2tu:
Elite Motorsports in Florida (if they are still in business) used to make nice looking ones in a carbon fiber appearance. But, many people have not had good luck dealing with them. I have the chrome MGW sills and they are beautiful. I would take a picture, but I have not installed them yet.
A 180 degree thermostat will not cause an engine light to go on. Chuck recommends a 180 and I have one in mine without any problems. I would run from your local tech because it sounds like he might know Neons, but not Vipers.
I'm in Pittsburgh, PA and trailered my 94 to Tators in NY for the headgasket upgrade. It was worth the drive to have Chuck work on it because I knew the work would be done correctly.
You need those pieces from a 96 RT/10. They had black interior and were pasically the same as 92-95 interiors. Try Chuck Tator, Paul Scharf, Jon B. I have no idea on the cost.
Last year my car was getting very little heat and it turned out to be the thermostat. The engine temperature was normal also. I had my car at Tators for the headgasket upgrade and he told me the thermostat was stuck. So, he installed a 180 degree thermostat and now all is well.
Venomiss,
I do have a bunch of the Viper Mag. posters and frames. I bought them months ago because I knew I would be purchasing a new (to me) home. Plus, I have a very large oak display case to show off all my diecast models. I just hope I can fit the display case into the downstairs...
