Are there any other options besides the thin (easily scratched) aluminum ones Jon sells for $389.00 and the little short ones MGW sells? My car had the JonB type and were scratched up. I pulled them off. The paint underneath is destroyed; now I need to cover it up again:omg:
Suggestions?

Elite Motorsports in Florida (if they are still in business) used to make nice looking ones in a carbon fiber appearance. But, many people have not had good luck dealing with them. I have the chrome MGW sills and they are beautiful. I would take a picture, but I have not installed them yet.

I have the Elite ones (I think)
they look fine but are glued on and right now I need to take the rocker panels off to mount my WBO2 sensors and the plate is covering the screws to take it off

I just hope when I get them off, that they won't be ruined
it seems to be hard to get these items anymore
I don't see them on Elite's website

here are some from SVS that I have a pic of but I can't find them on their website either

You do not need to remove the side sills to mount the WB sensors. It can easily be done from underneath if installing in the turn out area.

The aluminum plate protectors look great, but they a sort of oxymoron. They scratch EXTREMELY easily thereby pretty much negating their intended purpose -- except for looks.

And when you take them off to do sill work ( as I did) the mess they leave behind makes it necessary to keep the things

unless you want to sand and paint the sill plate

Well with a nice, sharp razor I got them off last night
and I think with some heat the sticky tape should come off too

Steve, the way my headers are I can't really see how I could mount the WBs from under the car
I was just following Daniel's guide on mounting them with the rocker panels off

I would like to drill some access holes so I don't have to remove the sills every time I need to get the rocker panels off but I'm not sure how to drill carbon fiber

BTW, if nobody make these anymore, it would be very easy to replicate the ones I have
it's just a thin sheet of CF cut to the pattern and the viper logo embossed in it
just need to find someone that does CF work ;)

Glad you were able to get them off OK. My headers are Belangers and we were able to cut a **** in from underneath at about 3 o'clock in the turn out area.

Daniel has certainly provided a lot of excellent picture tutorials for everyone to use.

What about a clear bra application over the aluminum plates? It can easily be wrapped under the plates or cut at the edges. Just a thought.

Bottlefed,
I don't think those are the Elite parts. I have the Elite covers and they cover both the door jam area as well as the rocker panel area. They also have cutouts for access to the rocker screws.

I have the sill plates from Dodge. They look great. I would think that anything that you buy will scratch.I worry just as much about the covers as I did the sills themselves. It's the area that they are in.TOM.

I don't really know. Big time heat there, especially with cats. The other thing is, you would be nicking this stuff up too. While it would be protecting the expensive sill plate, it would start to look like hell itself from all the scuff marks.

I worry MUCH more about the sill plate than I do the factory sill finish. It seems to scratch just looking at it. These are Zero Altitude plates

yeah, I wasn't sure if they were the Elite ones, I just know they are CF

mine actually look exactly like the ones Steve just posted above, only CF - notice that there is no access holes to the rocker screws

we'll see if the clear bra can handle the heat
I just had my rocker panels covered in it ;)
