    Upcoming track (driver's training) events

Note: I spoke with the organizer of the Lotus Club NW May 22 event at PIR and this event will be cancelled in the event of rain. The forecast for next Friday at this point is still 50/50 for rain. If it does go I hope to see you there or at the June 5 Cascade Sports Car Club event. /Rich

    2006 Wheel Nut Torque?

Yes, 90 ft-lbs for the 2006; strangely enough, it went up to 100 ft-lbs for the 2008 Viper.

Personally prefer the "naked" option; looks cleaner to my eyes. Nice choice to have in the first place though. /Rich

2008 ACR on the Dyno w Headers, Exhaust, Mopar ECU, K&N

Thanks for posting the before and after data. So to summarize, Mopar ECU yields about 15-20 hp, Belanger full header exhaust about 50 hp and the K&N Mazda RX-8 filter about 7 hp. /Rich

    Removing 2008 Wheel . . .

I have some curb rash on one of my rear rims on my 2008 Viper. Instead of bringing the whole car to the dealer for the rim repair, I just wanted to jack the car on my lift, put a jack stands or wood blocs under the metal triangular jack point, remove the rim/tire and bring it alone to the...

    Cleaning gas cans . . .

I agree wth everyone that gas cans in the car is less than desireable. Unfortunately, this new track (Oregon Raceway Park) where the HPDE was held is deep in agricultural land in the middle of Oregon (Grass Valley, Ore.). The nearest 92 octane pump gas is at a town 30 miles away. I carried...

    Cleaning gas cans . . .

Thanks for the suggestions all. I use brake cleaner to clean motor oil off of those hard plastic funnels, etc. I assume that the brake cleaner will not degrade the thinner plastic of the gas cans? /Rich

    Cleaning gas cans . . .

I had to haul about 4 plastic gas cans in the cockpit of my Viper for an HPDE event this last weekend. Needless to say, when pouring a bit of gas got on the exterior of each can. Does anyone know of a good method or product for cleaning fuel off of gas cans in terms of both safety and smell...

What's top speed in each gear Gen IV?

My fuzzy recollection from reading another post or magazie article is that for a 2008-2009, 1st gear will take you to 60 mph, 2nd will take you to about 80 mph, 3rd is about 130 mph, and from there I just can't remember. 6th gear is obviously very tall and is theoretically geared for about 300...

    Driving Gloves

As someone who wears gloves during street driving as well as on the track (yes, let the flames begin), there are a number of online sources such as griotsgarage.com and Wheelskins - The World's Finest Genuine Leather Motoring Accessories, Steering Wheel Covers, Driving Gloves and Shift Boots...

New Member introduction - and, Viper SRT-10 Reproduction wheels interest ?

Welcome to the forum Adreis. I would be interested in whatever rim options your friend produces especially if they are lightweight (15-20 lbs front, 20-25 lbs rear) and suitable for track use. /Rich

    oil level question

I see the same thing on my 08; no matter how many times I do it, there is always a little bit of a "slant" to the level on the dipstick. I actually just pick the mid point of the slanted line and if that is at a safe level I call it good.

    SRT Track Experience

I attended at my local track and I was not expecting much but I had to say it was well run and you got a fair amount of track time. What makes it interesting is that you get a sampling of various driving disciplines such as road course driving on a track, autocross and drag racing. I highly...
