    Am I the only one?

One thing I've always liked about the Viper is that it made no excuses in striving to be the quickest amongst its competitors. To a point, more power and bigger tires was enough of a formula to get it there. The car has enough power now that 0-60 is limited only by available grip; with an...

Has anyone built their own front swaybar?

Hey Alan, Come to think about it, I think we may have met one time, a few years back at an AAS event at Atwater. I think it was the weekend my buddy Jason Uyeda and I were up there running the Stock-class MR2 Spyder. Dunno if you remember me, but I think I remember seeing your car and talking...

Has anyone built their own front swaybar?

Alan, your Street Prepared car that's been lowered, running different spring rates, and a different diff, is in an entirely different circumstance than those of us campaigning the cars in Stock class. I agree that an SP car should usually run swaybars smaller and softer than stock, if only for...

Has anyone built their own front swaybar?

Hi Rich, The ACR bar is worth trying I suppose. The problem is we don't know its range of adjustability - it may be great on one surface, but not so good on another. While it is great to be able to buy something you know fits, swaybars are probably the easiest suspension piece to put together...

Has anyone built their own front swaybar?

Hi Rich, Need a codriver in 2008 for some National events? ;) Actually it remains to be seen if the 2008 Viper is even going to be allowed to run in Stock class. I'm going to guess that the regular '08 makes it in but the ACR gets pushed to ASP, as happened with the previous ACR. But we...

Has anyone built their own front swaybar?

Hi Mark, Thanks for the reply. This is going on a Stock-class autocross car, so I don't get to play with the rear. I think the SRT is going to need a lot of front bar with the yucky stock diff and 315/345 Hoosiers. Is the bar you make a redrilled stock bar or ? What are the %ages of...

Has anyone built their own front swaybar?

Seems like there are almost no pre-fabbed options out there for SRT-10 front swaybars. There appear two be two Comp Coupe bars - a simple stock-style (but stiffer) one, and the uber-expenive (was quoted $1800) blade-adjustable one. The SRT-10 appears to have a pretty simple path for its...

    Am I the only one?

At low speeds where high thrust is possible, the Viper will be at a disadvantage to cars with more weight over their drive wheels (911 - 70%, AWD - 100%). At least the Viper is better than the Corvette in this regard. As speeds climb and thrust values fall to within the capabilities of the...

How about an exhaust sound/video clip thread?

Took this the other morning. Car has stock headers and cats, but no mufflers, just an HPC-coated straight pipe. Pretty loud. :) I plan to get a Corsa soon so I can pass db req's at the track.

If the new ACR makes 1,500 lbs of dowfroce at 150 mph . . .

If it makes 1000lbs. @150mph, then it *should* make 250lbs. @75mph. Still pretty good actually, that's about a 7% increase in normal force, which could mean a 5-6% increase in grip, at that spped.

What's faster, the old Comp Coupe or the new ACR?

I might believe 1.2 but would be extremely skeptical of 1.3 or higher. This is coming from someone who owns an SRT-10, has driven on real slicks, Michelin Sport Cups, runs proper data acquisition equipment, and has spent plenty of time on the skidpad, including the one most of the magazines use...

What's faster, the old Comp Coupe or the new ACR?

Guys, the 1.5G number is great, but it's fantasyland. There's no way in hell the ACR is going to pull that number on a regular magazine-style skidpad test, which is the venue we normally associate these G figures with. That number (1.5) is probably a sort of theoretical (or possibly measured)...

    Lightest rims in 18 x 10 and 19 x 13?

Just FYI, non-metallic (i.e. carbon) wheels are not legal in SCCA Solo2, in any class. It may be just as well, if you happen to find any they're likely to be pretty expensive. I imagine the CCW one-piece wheels like the SP16A are likely to be a bit lighter than the 3-piece Classics of...

    Lightest rims in 18 x 10 and 19 x 13?

Hi Rich, I'll be interested to see what you find, as I am searching for similar wheels. I've talked to John Purner at CCW (Complete Custom Wheel - Welcome) and he says the SP16 style wheel he makes would be the lightest he can do for this application (stock sized wheels), though I was unable...

    Hoosier A6 feedback??

I've run A6s plenty...to run them as your only/street tire is pretty nuts. Crack is fun every so often but you don't want to try and survive on it alone...:D It is an autocross compound tire designed to heat up quickly and work in lower temperature ranges. It is not a good (road) track...

    Mufflers to pass sound restrictions?

Pic and an ABS question Here's a gratuitous pic from the autocross: (I was comically disappointed to see the fancy magnets from my last car would not work here. :)) And an ABS question- my yellow abs dash light comes on every time I drive the car, once I go over about 20mph. It's off the...

    Mufflers to pass sound restrictions?

Yep, the car has a bit of a "history" to it that helped make the price more reasonable. Did my first autocross in the car today, took me a few runs to get the hang of things, but in the end it worked really well. On the stock wheels and run-flats I was about 3 seconds behind an 8-9 time...

    Mufflers to pass sound restrictions?

It's probably not of much interest to those here, but here it is: and a video in-car: http://www.jrho.com/sm240/jrhos.wmv For those familiar with SCCA autocross classes, this car won the 2006 STS National Championship, and was then built to compete in the Street Modified class. I decided...

    Mufflers to pass sound restrictions?

Hi Juli, It's a black Mamba edition, 002/200. My trip to get it story - last Friday left San Diego a little after noon with my Ram truck and my old race car in the trailer. Made it to Redding, CA, (670 miles) about 11:30pm. Checked into hotel, hit road about 6:30 the next morning. Dropped...

    Mufflers to pass sound restrictions?

Hi all, First post here, just got my '04 this past weekend. At the moment the car has the stock headers and cats, but from there back it's got HPC-coated straight pipes. It sounds absolutely bitchin' at startup and while into the gas, but the places I race often have sound restrictions of...
