    Mark's first Pro Solo

Prior to this year, Kumho didn't have a 19" offering for the V710. The one 19" size they do have is in the new square-shouldered design. While potentially better, the new design tires tend to be a bit narrower than one would expect for the given size - I think you'll find if you try the 305-18...

    Mark's first Pro Solo

Having gone the other direction, from the 345-19 Hoosier to the 335-19 Kumho, I can tell you, you are giving up a fair amount of rear grip. The 335 Kumho puts about a half inch less rubber on the ground per tire than the 345 Hoosier. Given the K-tire affiliation, I would recommend building...

    Mark's first Pro Solo

Heh, the way Nationals courses are going, you could just hang in first gear with the 3.07's. Are those 285's or 305's up front? The 315-18 Kumho works great on the front of my car, but I'm at stock ride height, might rub with your setup. And in back, the 345-18 or 335-19? I wish they...

    Mark's first Pro Solo

That was really your first Pro Mark? You've been missing out! Did you run the Quaife or OS Giken diff? As a member of the SMAC I am obliged to encourage you to keep the rear gear in the car to help SSM make numbers at Nationals. :)

    Quaife Diffs on Sale!

Thought I'd put this here- I'm looking to purchase a couple stock limited slip units out of the Gen 3 cars. I just need the limited slip, I don't need the ring gear or any other bits. I don't know what customers or vendors do with the stock units when they swap in a Quaife or whatever, but...

J-Rho autocrosses an SRT-10 in SCCA SS class

Well, the Wendover Pro went pretty well I guess. The car won by a staggering 1.8 seconds! Unfortunately for me, it was with my codriver Gary Thomason driving. I drove really poorly, the worst I've done in a long time, and ended up fourth. At least the car was fantastic! The new 28-series...

Would a Nur spec ACR make sense?

Shortening 5th from .74 to .84 would make it a usable gear at the 'Ring, and probably drop the car's time by 1-2 seconds in the really fast part without hurting it anywhere else, where the gearing seemed pretty good. Maybe raise the rev limiter 250rpm too.

Viper ACR Sets World Record at Nürburgring - NEW VIDEO

I would bet just about anything they simply used a speed vs. downforce formula derived from 150mph=1000lbs. and based the graph on speed.

J-Rho autocrosses an SRT-10 in SCCA SS class

Front shocks were completed today and should be on the car tomorrow night. Fortunately, a dyno run of the front shocks validated the driver's feelings of how they felt and were likely to look when graphed. This is good news, as the different damping characteristics of the new shocks should...

What's top speed in each gear Gen IV?

Hmmm, I've seen both 1.1 and 1.0 listed online as the 4th gear ratio for the car. If it's 1.0, then the top speed would be more like 162-163, which jives with the R&T results. Would be nice if they made 5th a bit shorter (like .84) to make it more useful at the track. Could still keep the...

What's top speed in each gear Gen IV?

    Based on rev limiter @6350, 345/30-19 Michelin PS2 @764 revs/mi, and stock gearing of 2.66, 1.78, 1.30, 1.1, .74, .50 with 3.07 rear end- 1st-60 2nd-91 3rd-125 4th-147 5th-219 6th-325 Edit to add, Gen3 speeds are about 3% lower in each gear due to lower rev limit.

Here's my favorite one so far, too bad it's of my codriver! :)

J-Rho autocrosses an SRT-10 in SCCA SS class

Hmmm, I moved web servers, and would like to fix my first post in this thread, but can't edit it. Oh well. I'm on a mission at the moment to get some shocks built for my car. As stated above, I am running in Stock class, so I have to stick with the stock springs and ride height, and I have...

    SRT-10 rear shock fork question

Thanks for the replies Jon and Mark. Jon, I left you a VM about the shock forks. I'd prefer not to cannibalize my stock stuff if I don't have to, so I may be interested in a rear set if you have some lying around. If either of you guys could do a quick measurement of the threads in the...

    SRT-10 rear shock fork question

Hello, Looking at getting some custom shocks made for my SRT-10. I haven't had the stock coilovers apart to see how the "fork" attaches to the lower part of the shocks in the rear. Are they welded, or threaded in, or ??? If they're threaded, does anybody know the thread size and pitch? I...

J-Rho autocrosses an SRT-10 in SCCA SS class

Here's a couple pics from the ProSolo. This is Gary Thomason (who drove the autocross portion of the Road & Track super-car test last year, including the Viper ACR) somehow picking up a front wheel. The car has a stiff front bar but this exceeded what I thought the car would do. The grip...

J-Rho autocrosses an SRT-10 in SCCA SS class

So we did the El Toro Pro Solo this past weekend. Tried a new tire setup, 315/35-18 front and 335/30-19 rear Kumho V710. Initially the car had a bit of oversteer on the new tires. We made a pretty big toe change (more rear toe in) and that made it better. We probably went too far, and were...

J-Rho autocrosses an SRT-10 in SCCA SS class

This past weekend was the SD National Tour. As part of a codrive deal, the Viper was parked, and I co-drove with the class's 2008 National Champion, Gary Thomason, in his winning Porsche GT3. He will be co-driving the Viper with me next weekend at the El Toro Pro Solo. I had never even sat...

    JM Cylinder Heads STRIKER Head

I'd be interested to see a dyno of a similar build on a Gen 3 motor- Stryker or GG heads, cam, headers, hi-flow (or no) cats & mufflers, and a tune. It would be dandy if 600whp were acheivable without getting into the bottom end. Are these heads generally designed to raise compression?

    H&R Coil Overs ....

Luke, does Bilstein make the H&R shocks for this Viper application? Is there any flexibility in spring rate when ordering?

SRT-10 ABS sensitivity to tire diameter

Thank for that Al. Will I be seeing you out at any National events this year?

SRT-10 ABS sensitivity to tire diameter

Thanks for the above. The setup I'm looking at is 790 front and 772 rear in the Ecsta V710. That ratio (.977) is a hair on the closer-to-stock (.938) side of your V700 setup (.978). I think that answers my question, thanks again for your data and experiences.

SRT-10 ABS sensitivity to tire diameter

Thanks for the reply Jon. Just so I'm clear, was the 6% smaller circumference just with the rear tires, or all four tires?

SRT-10 ABS sensitivity to tire diameter

Hi guys, Wondering who has "pushed the limits" of wacky tire diameter differences on their SRT-10 to see where the ABS gives up. Generally I've found factory ABS systems to allow at least a few % diameter difference from Stock, wondering how the Viper does. For instance, Factory front...

J-Rho autocrosses an SRT-10 in SCCA SS class

2008 recap- Ran the Wendover ProSolo last August, did okay but not great. Ended up not going to Nationals due to purchse of new home, and not having many ProSolo points. 2009- Signed up for San Diego National Tour in March, as well as the El Toro and Alameda ProSolo events in March and...
