    Re: New \'04 has loose crank bolt- tow or drive???? That's why Final gts said fourth, because fourth turns less for the same movement, then it also turns harder. Like a bigger anchor on the drive shaft. :2tu:

    Viper purchase satisfaction

    I bought my '04 SRT-10 on march 26, 2005. It now has appx 6000 miles. Only problem was an alarm with a mind of it's own. Went away after about 1 week. Life is quick, Vipers are quicker, life is good. :D :D :usa:

    From my experience what is happening with the smoke, and missing is NOT normal. However you're visit to the dealer may be common.

    Just keep it parked in the garage, and carry a drool towel with you at all times. The only part of my viper ever covered is the drivers seat with my butt. :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

    Re: srt\'s ARE PHOTOGENIC That "magical" plastic is a deflector, to guide the air sideways and downward. the air filters are a couple inches below. It also helps keep out rainwatter. :2tu:

    Never heard of a viper stolen by trunk access, plus I think to hot-wire the latch you need to be under the hood.

    I doubt it is valve seals as it would be bluish smoke, black smoke is usually unburned fuel. I would guess you have an injector clogged or defective and leaking after shut off. It would go away after a few secs. and make a small miss till cleaned out

    Drivetrain Slop

    If you are in 5th at low rpms you are bogging the engine. I rarely use 5th unless going about 70 mph and higher. Even though it has tons of torque that has to be to low rpm

    problem with new SRT-10

    An awful lot of performance engines burn oil faster than you're worrying about, mine (SRT-10) uses appx 1 qt in 3000 miles and I don't consider it using oil.

    I'll tell you this much, I've owned a trans am w/400+ HP, no traction cont. at all, a C-5 w/400+ HP, with active handling, a caddy cts-v w/400+ HP with stabilitrac, and now a SRT 10 with 500+ HP with tire monitors and a cup holder, and the first and last ones on the list were far more fun to...
