Anyone interested in this install, it is relatively easy to do yourself. I have an "illustrated upgrade" that I made to show you how. The sound is great but after having it for a few years now I often feel it is a bit too quiet. Maybe it is time for headers?
If I remember right, Sean used to sell two brackets. One located the extinguisher closer to the seat but interfered with 5 point harnesses. The other located it more forward to allow harness use. I think he decided to drop the former model so that all could use harnesses. You might check to see...
I used the the track event argument when I was hit and they wanted to replace two of my MXX3's with Pilot sports. They got me 4 new tires. I don't understand the worry about track events. Insurance usually doesn't cover you there.
Do policies really state that they will return the car to...
Show some documentation that you do high speed track events and ask them (State Farm) to sign a statement that assures you that the wheel is absolutely safe at high speeds. Ask them to cc a copy to your "attorney". I bet this will get them to cave in....
I have had an intermittent check engine light, usually just after starting car when it is hot. Scanner lists code P1296, "5 volt output to MAP sensor open". Does anyone have experience with this code? Will a change of the MAP sensor generally solve it? I ran through the MAP sensor test per the...
Re: Neutral Gear Rattle - \'99 vs \'00
I have a 97 GTS that had very noticable NGR. When the transmission was replaced with a new one with the updated fluid, the NGR dissappeared. I actually kind of miss it......
I don't know about smarter cops here in California. Most of the Highway Patrol Motorcycles (CHiPs) leave there radar on all the time. Gives us great notice.
Regarding the V1, I have disabled the X band due to so many false alarms. I am thinking of disabling the K also. It seems the only K...
Re: Likely StopTech Issue
I don't know if that would work with "warped rotors" like I had, where there is enough material deposited that you get severe vibration on braking. The Hawk pads were easier as I didn't have to remove the front rotors (I figure you must need to do that to resurface...
Re: Likely StopTech Issue
Just wanted to give some follow-up. I followed Matt's advice using the Hawk pads and this has completely elliminted the problem. I have installed StopTech Club Race pads which do squeek quite a bit but hopefully will be a better compromise for street and track than the...
Re: Likely StopTech Issue
Matt,
Thanks for your great information. I have always had great support from you guys. I only emailed you a few days ago so it has not been long, just my impatience. The Hawk pads sound like a great offer. I will be in contact.
Thanks to all else for the great...
I am posting this here as I have not gotten a respose from StopTech.
I have a set of Stoptech front brakes that I installed in my Viper last year. I have been using the Axxis Ultimate pads. I did the break-in then as directed getting smoking front pads and green fade. All has
been going well...
Wait. I have the front 13" Stoptechs on my 97 GTS and they significantly improve braking, particulary on the street as the bias is improved and I am much less likely to lock the fronts with a panic stop. I think those with stock ABS like jrkermode notice much less improvement. Your 2000 has no...
