The you-tube comments are funny:
The piece of junk Viper broke down....
It blew a water pump gasket.
I'm sure this guys Camry wouldn't blow a gasket at 192mph!
600 should be the highest US production car HP number. What about cubic inches? What was the biggest baddest big block? What is this 8.4 liter in C.I.?
Normally I would think the check engine light will come on only when something is wrong. I my laziness, my light came on and I did nothing about it. I don't remember the mileage when it came on, but I was watching as I crossed 26,000 miles and the light went out at EXACTLY the same time. Hasn't...
SO, what is really going on at the Conner Ave. plant? An extended shutdown for 're-tooling' is what we all understood. Re-tooling for what, if not the Firepower. Is this just a diversion? We also knew the name would not be "Firepower!" specifically, so are they just being good men-in-black?
The Viper driver may have 'been really familiar' with the track, but he was not familiar with the car. I am SURE, the two drivers switched cars to compare, they just didn't air that video, for whatever reason. The show plays to a European audience. Wouldn't we do the same to protect the good ol'...
Look at the Ferraris numbers. It walks away from the Z06! I know it has 100 more HP, but the car weighs 3600+lbs. Power to weight has to be very close.
Also notice that the Viper is rated 506 PS and the Z06 is rated 512 PS. Seems like the rear exhaust on the euro model 'detunes' the Viper a...
Re: 155 MPH Limiters - what\'s the deal?
155mph = 250kph. The trees were dying in the Black forest in Germany. The 'green' people were demanding speed limits to cut down exhaust emissions, but the Germans also take great pride in thier unlimited sections of autobahn and the skill it takes to...
So, are we saying that IF the gov't sets up the power to weight rule, the car companies will cheat the system? They can't lower the hp anymore (SAE's new test procedures) so would they fudge the weight? Doesn't sound possible.
If it becomes a gentlemens agreement, wouldn't that lead to a lot...
The tire warning makes sense. Either the cold pressure was just below the threshold and as you drove and warmed the tires they increased to above the limit, or the system was re-setting due to the battery. My tires did this several times early in the morning on cold days.
Wait, the trip is from Dec 6-8? That would be two days? Being an overnight flight....It takes me two days to get over the 6 hour time difference!
The corp. jet thing sounds sweet!
Germany in the winter can be nice, the only bad point is that everyone generally switches to winter tires by the...
The Germans have a 'gentlemens' agreement to limit the top speed to 250kph or 155 mph. There isn't a law (as far as I know) it's only the companies agreeing to this. In most cases you can order your car without the limiter. Even on the Autobahn, cruising along at 180mph for an extended time can...
It wouldn't affect the aftermarket, just new car makers. What would the limit be, if they were serious about doing this? Could the C6Z06 add ballast and meet the target? Let's name some of the best power to weight ratio cars:
Z06
911 turbo?
Lotus Elise?
Saleen S7
Ferrari F430
Lambo Gallardo...
Lots of high speed driving. Just make sure you follow the rules. The most important is DO NOT TAILGATE! The police will ticket you for this more than anything else. Have fun.
He does. He is sending a crack German team to knock $1000 off the cost of building each car. He couldn't do that WHILE he was in charge over here? I smell creative accounting.
Why buy Chrysler? Why not just Dodge? Hell, why not just the Conner Ave plant, then hire some of the right people away from the 'old' DC and make a real car. I guess the costs would spiral out of control without group purchasing power and the car would end up being a Saleen S7. Is that a bad thing?
