Engine check light - code P0320

Hello Guys;

My battery went dead while the car was sitting for sometime. Anyway, I needed to ready it for storage and as I was driving to my mechanic ( 30-40 mins ) later, the check engine light came on.

I had the code read from my mechanic and it was code P0320 " Ignition / distributor engine data input circuit " Does anyone know what this hell this means?

Also note that when I started the car , the low tire pressure came on and then went away after driving the car for about 10 mins. I also disconnected the negative battery terminal and the check engine light went away as well. VERY SENSITIVE COMPUTERS ON THESE CARS.............

The tire warning makes sense. Either the cold pressure was just below the threshold and as you drove and warmed the tires they increased to above the limit, or the system was re-setting due to the battery. My tires did this several times early in the morning on cold days.

Actually No it must have been a computer glitch because I measured the tires after backing out of my garage and all 4 tires registered at 27 PSI.

On a late model car when the battery is unhooked or goes dead it may take up to 3 key starts for the computer to see that there is no problem and not set the light. When I disconnect batteries for months in my car storage they have to be driven for the computer to reset emmission monitors and relearn driving habits of the driver. It takes some driving to do that.

I'd just blame the current cold spell, seeing that you are from Toronto.

Wormdoggy, once you get a charged battery in place all you need to do to rid yourself of the low tire pressure warning is to remove the positive cable form the fuse box under the hood that is held in place by 2 10 mm nuts. Then reinstall after 30 seconds. Remember to have your key in your hand and the top down as you will have to open the door with the door lock key and then turn the key on only until everything stops making noise. Then tuirn the car off, remove key, put key back in and start the car.
