The new Z06 takes to modding well? I just read about one blowing the engine after a couple runs with NOS. Maybe the result of poor tuning...but if the guy spent +$70K on the car, you'd think he could afford to have a professional install and tune it.
Atro, no part numbers. I just saw some very small ones at Autozone. Actually they are barely visible. I had to hunt to find a picture where they could be seen.
I DO drive my Viper. That's the problem. With 22,500 miles on it so far, the bottom side of the sills would probably be bare aluminum without flaps! I was too late for the 3M clearstuff. Tha damage had already been done.
Ugh. Sounds like Barbies dream car. No wait, that was a pink Vette, right?
Isn't there a picture of an 'older' woman with hilariously huge breasts sitting in a pink Viper? Can someone find this please?
VipeRick, I agree with you. within 1000 miles I took off the side sills and could not believe the level of damage. I thought there might be 'buffable' damage, but the chips go right through the paint down to the aluminum. I put mud flaps on. Don't laugh. OK, maybe a little!
I'm 39, and work for a major auto manufacturer.
I'll use an analogy to help you understand:
Suppose you were in the real estate business. You've been in that field for 25 years. You know the area and business VERY well. Someone tells you their house is a gem, worth $100,000 more than your...
You're just a little off with your facts.
IF you took the standard C6 and added:
Bigger Wheels
Bigger Tires
Bigger Engine
Dry sump oiling system
Bigger Brakes
The car would weigh MORE than a Viper.
By taking the time and spending the money to engineer the aluminum frame and carbon fiber...
Yes, the GT is aluminum. So is the Ferrari F430 Spyder. So is the new Jag vert, so was the BMW Z8....etc etc . I don't think DC should necessarily change the vert to aluminum, but an ACR coupe with a frame built by Dana (same supplier to the Z06) and an up rated engine sounds like heaven to me...
geez... do we have a bunch of guys working in the STEEL industry here? People, STEEL is NOT the only substance on earth that would increase WEIGHT for a car.
There's always LEAD....
Yes, an aluminum chassis on the COUPE with a lightweight tire wheel package. You have something against a...
Simply have an outside supplier (like Chevy does with the Z06) build an aluminum chassis to replace the steel one. Instant weight savings, AND they can clear out the part of the Conner plant that builds the frames and covert it to Firepower production.....smart.
Couple weeks ago week I got a 1.871 60ft time. On Bridgestones. Scrap the run-flats. The BEST I could get on them was 2.0 and then they would always light-up in 2nd gear. This was on a sub 50 degree night!
Re: How difficult to \'un-bolt\' the roof?
Yes, I want to take the top off! There was NO WAY to do it on a GTS, but this 'easy' design of adding the roof made me think. Look at the trunk cut-out. It's exactly the same as the convertible. The section along the front is also exactly the same as...
Look at any recent Bimmer, the reason they look good is the big wheel/tire combo wrapped tightly by the arches. Lowered Vipers look SOOOOO much better. Maybe DC thinks we want to add 22" wheels to the snake....
How difficult to \'un-bolt\' the roof?
With the new coupe being basically an SRT vert with a roof added, how difficult would it be to remove said roof section? If it's a matter of unbolting the header and 1/4 panel sections, could you then add a modified verts trunk lid and have an old Mercedes...
No sween, you do what you want to do. Just grow some balz and don't back down when the heat gets turned to high. I feel ashamed that the Z06 is truly a faster car (not just a little or "the Vipers match" as some above have stated. The ONLY hope is that the guys who make the big decisions at DC...
