13.4 - yikes! I'm surprised you trapped @114. I was frustrated last year with a 12.57, felt better this year with a 12.14. 13.4 I'd be insane; maybe I already am just for thinking this way.
Apex Smakebox solved light from rear O2. I have refrained from moving front O2 as described above as the c/e light has remained off. I am running a full Belanger system w/o cats. That may change to w/cats shortly.
Same setup sans cats:
Before 12.57 @ 115
After 12.14 @ 119
Snakeboxes eliminated c/e light caused by cats delete.
Improper front O2 sensor locations may also precipitate c/e light.
No cats and 4 bullet mufflers; still too loud.
No cats assults the olfactories; to be rectified.
I have accumulated 21,000 miles on my 99 ACR and enjoyed every mile. I drive it every chance I get. While I'm far from financially independent, I don't concern myself with resale value. Life is too darn short; enjoy it every day! Besides, I had cars that I've simply saved for the next owner...
I do not believe any year came equipped with a drain plug. Your choices are to suck it out, or drill and tap the case to facilitate routine draining (I don't believe removing the carrier assembly is a realistic option). I chose the latter and had success drilling and tapping the case. As a...

I've had 11 Corvettes and sold a 94 ZR-1 to buy my 99 ACR. Many Viper loyalists embrace the early RT-10 for their purist characteristics that yield a true drivers/enthusiasts car; they wouldn't have it any other way. While I can appreciate and respect their POV, I feel as you do and require a...

Yeap you've heat cycled the crap out of those old stock rears. They are real hard now. You will be amazed at all the extra traction a new set of rubber on the rear will provide. You don't...

The factory specifies 29 psi at all four corners on a 99 with Pilot Sports. I may...
I had a Polo Green ZR-1 and one day passed a Viper sporting a very similar color. I absolutely fell in love with the car and at that moment decided I had to have a Viper. When I was in the market (I'm impulsive so I wasn't "in the market" very long), none were available. I settled (if you can...
I have gotten great service from the OEM set of Pilot Sports. Just wondering if it could have been even better. The center tread of the rear tires measures just under 3/32" while the outside tread (both sides) measures just over 5/32". Call it about 2.5/32" difference.
I maintained a cold...
Surprisingly, there are a number of low mileage garage/trailer queens available. Many owners are content to just have the car sitting looking pretty. When I was looking, I too was struck by this but also encouraged by the prospect of finding an almost new Viper for a non so new price...
Although constructed of high quality materials and providing a major improvement in exhaust tone, this kind of quality oversight is not uncommon at Borla. I had a very similar experience on my ZR-1. Borla sent a replacement system but it was no different. I wound up on the garage floor with...
1) Change the engine oil from 15-50 to 10-30.
2) Change the coolant, axle and trans fluids.
3) Set the Koni's shocks to the softest settings (if applicable).
4) Be sensitive to reduced traction at lower temperatures.
5) Drive the Viper as often as possible!
Hey Kevin:
I did the 3 to 2 upshift thing a few times and while I though for sure something had to be screwed up, everything was fine. Since installing a short throw shifter, it's only happened once. I am mis-shift free for quite a while now.
It does scare the daylights out of you though...
The rear shifter stop hits the trans tunnel on a solid 1-2 shift and it sounds as if the trans is about to come through the floor. SVSi indicated that it is OK to eliminate the stops. Has anyone done this? What was the result? Does the OEM shifter have stops?
Thanks .....
To be in the company of a great motorsports legend would be a thrill and an honor. To get a photo with Mario next to my car would be incredible. I'm in regardless. John/Sean you guys up for the trip?
What's up with DC? This isn't exactly rocket science! The announcement last spring clearly stated that the belts should no longer be used. So if you wanted to track the car, you basically had to pony up the cash for non-oem belts or risk using the original oem set. I choose the later and...
