Re: I RODE IN AND DROVE THE WORLD\'S MOST POWERFUL SUPERCHARGED VIPER LAST N
I am flying to Texas Friday AM to witness the V10 Nationals first hand. Can't wait to see Paolo and the rest of the high HP folks!!!
I have seen some of Fat Alberts work, and he does REALLY nice paint. Full time tech? kinda strange.. definitely some inflated prices in there. If everything is on the car that is in the ad, it sounds like a nice machine!
I think it would be nice (in addition to HP gains) to have the fans come on a bit earlier, bump up the idle just a bit, skipshift delete (I've already done that), etc.
What can be done on Gen I, and price?
Thanks,
"and the tires (lucky to get 20k out of the rears and 30k out of the fronts"
I think I get about 8K out of an average set of tires! You are doing great as far as I'm concerned!
From the sound of it (taking off the sport bar pad) you have a Mopar hardtop. The one I had didn't have any headliner, like yours appears to (my car is a Gen I though). I traded mine in on a ViperMania top. It is sweet!
Thor,
I am afraid that you may be disappointed when your dealer finally realizes that the 96 dashes are not available anymore. I tried buying one, and nobody had any more of them. If you DO get your parts, let us know!

I won't be answering your question exactly, but with Valaya headers, T&D's and free flow cats (already had free flow mufflers) on my 94 I gained about 46 RWHP and 23 RWTQ.
I bought a complete rear end, and (after some time) sold my old one. Broke even. Mine was done by Unitrax. I have done some rear gear changes before (not in a Viper) and it is not that hard. With all the torque of a Viper, if you don't get the gears set up perfectly, you may very well be doing...
Re: \'96 GTS WHEELS
96 wheels are fine for the street, but have been known to crack when used on track (especially w/ sticky tires).
I have seen too many pictures of them on this site....
Re: What is the strangest or BEST reaction you\'ve had to driving your viper
I've had my car for over 7 years, and drive it quite often. I have heard some pretty silly ones.
Is that the new Jaguar? (also heard BMW, Corvette, Mazda, Ferrari, etc)
How much was it?
Does it get good gas mileage...
I don't remember the difference between the old style B&M and the new style, but I (and others on this site) had the old style B&M's break on us. That sucks. You are stranded.
Also, installing the B&M isn't a no brainer - you have to drill out rivets, one of the bolts is hard to get...
Re: 1.7\'s and headers....how much RWHP ?
Talk to Scott at Elite Motorsports www.vipersbyelite.com
He makes headers, and has the best price on T&D's that I could find (by a pretty good margin). He is also a good guy to deal with.
Adding Valaya headers and T&D's netted 46 RWHP on my Gen I.

I have had good luck with SCD paint shop (formerly Stevens Creek Dodge paint shop) at 631 Martin Ave near Layfayette in Santa Clara. Bill Tiernan @ 408-727-3258. May be covered under warranty??
Ted at Valaya is the man!
T&D's + Valaya Headers added 46.5HP and 22TQ. Already had hi-flo mufflers, but went to hi-flo cats. This is on a Gen I.
Just additional information, and another header to throw into the mix. :)
Re: Thanks for the small time we spent together-
I feel such a loss, and I only knew Paul from some of the forums that he visited. He was one of the kings of smack. His sense of humor and quick wit gave me many laughs, and his driving made me proud to be part of the Viper Family. My prayers are...
Re: Mysterious blow out on highway without the
PartsRack and ViperPartsLarry ([email protected]) both have new and slightly used Pilots. May work out good for you to try them.
Mine were replaced in my 94 last year w/ 28,000 miles on them. 33,500 now, and no signs of leaking. Gaskets replaced (under warranty) - no Arrow rebuild.
I had a similar issue on my passenger side where I had to tilt the window towards the interior of the car to get "tab A in slot B". I have since discovered that my interior panel was not as tight to the door as it could have been, and the window will now likely align better (weather is so good...
