I bought a complete rear end, and (after some time) sold my old one. Broke even. Mine was done by Unitrax. I have done some rear gear changes before (not in a Viper) and it is not that hard. With all the torque of a Viper, if you don't get the gears set up perfectly, you may very well be doing it over again, and a new set of gears... or new rear end... after you ruin them.

Andrew,
this is one mod i would head into with caution.

a few guys have had problems. noise in the rear, damaged gears, headache etc.
if you insist go with the wizard or unitrax.

myself i would rather spend the cash on other mods. like save for the SC then you dont need
the gear swap. ;)

Sounds like my best bet is a complete rear from Mopar. Can't be that hard to switch rears if I want to do it myself.

Always look into the future of your car.If you plan on S.C or extensive mods then a gear swap now will just turn into traction issues down the road.If you do not plan on any big mods then a swap is good for a great seat of the pants feel

Scott nailed it..I had 4.10's installed on my C5 when i had Heads and Cam and I was VERY happy with the results..But after I installed my SC i regreted the Gear change. I was spinning my tires all the way into 4th Gear under hard boost.

Think longterm and stick with the game plan , if you have no plans to do any heavy mods to your Motor then by all means a gear swap is one of the best bangs for the buck :2tu: .
