I'm curious. What is the plastic pipe for? Is it for exhaust fumes (you know, shoving a hose up the exhaust pipe so you can run engines inside the closed garage without asphyxiating yourself) or is it some sort of internal rain gutter?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Getting back to the stanchions, they are very easy to manufacture yourself. Just get four 12" by 12" flat plates, weld steel bar...
I kinda hope it is the battery. When I saw your header message "viper cut off while driving tonight" I thought you were going to tell us about some jerk swerving their car in front of you. My blood was starting to boil even before clicking on the message.

I wouldn't quibble about 1/8" difference from one side to the other, but if it bugs you then it will probably continue to bug you until you do something about it. Jump into the adjustment and have the most perfect Viper you can possibly have.
Before you do that though you might want to ask...
