Do any of you have a fitment or alingment issue with you trunk deck lids? Mine seems to sit a little bit higher on the right rear passenger light then it does on the left.

I am now woundering if the car might have been in an accident. The fascia is scraped up but not any worse than I would have expected. The frame seems to be o.k. except for one part on the passanger side where the exhaust tip exits. Looks like it was pounded out from the inside of the car. Everything else semms fine though. The car drives great. Nothing that would make me think it was in an accident. Any feedback would be great. :)

Mine is a 08, was bought new last year and the trunk lid gap on the driver's side is wide, pass. side normal. I will have to adjust it one day, but the gap will still be much wider than on many other cars.

How much is it out of alignment? There are a couple of adjustable rubber stops that you can tweak.

That's what I was thinking too. I know that my '01 had adjustable rubber stops, but never checked my '08. If they are there (as suggested), you've probably got a least 3/8" of adjustment which should do the trick.

As was mentioned, you can adjust the height of the lid with the rubber stops. As far as gaps goes, there can be an inconsistency or two with the alignment of body panels on this car. This is a known and has been since this car was first introduced. It's accepted (but oftentimes, can be corrected) due the the fact that this car is assembled by human hands.

I just don't look that closely anymore. It allows me to enjoy the car more.

It's amazing how many of these 08's have been hit already. 600 Horse is no joke. I went to look at one with 4000 miles on it. Thinking it should be close to new.... NOT...!!! Nearly the entire car was painted. Not well, either.

I would take it to a body shop (a good one), and ask them to take a look. They'll be able to tell you in 2 minutes if it was hit, or had any paintwork performed. Or post some pics up, so we can see what you describe. I'll be able to tell.

In addtion, Viper body panels are painted before they are assembled to the chassis at the factory. Any evidence of overspray, painted fasteners, tape lines, etc. indicates that the car has been repaired (and repaired incorrectly).

There are quite a number of ways that you can adjust both the deck lid or the quarter panel to get the exact gap and height adjustment that you are looking for. Just takes some time, patience, body spacers/washers, and of course a few six packs of your favorite cold beverage.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I can try to get a pic up of the part of the frame I was referring to. My buddy that helped me do my oil changes was the one who noticed it. Didn't seem to concerned about it but I suppose I could still have it looked at. The car had only 1900 miles on it when I purchased it. Now I know that can be a lot on these cars but everything else seemed to be on the up and up.

Another thing to add....there is a black piece of plastic on the bottom of the fascia that I was also woundering about. It looks like a splitter but only runs about halfway across the fascia. Is this a splitter? I can try to post a pic. Any ideas?

Keep in mind. The car in the picture has been completely taken apart and put back together.

Yes, exactly like mine 3/8" on driver's side and 1/4" on pass.

I wouldn't quibble about 1/8" difference from one side to the other, but if it bugs you then it will probably continue to bug you until you do something about it. Jump into the adjustment and have the most perfect Viper you can possibly have.

Before you do that though you might want to ask friends to look over the car and see if they can point out any flaws they can see. You might be surprised to find out that only you notice it.

Thanks, but I will get it adjusted, as I see it every time I approach the car....even coming from the front..LOL

Mine has never been in a wreck but I too have that exact misalignment on my trunk lid. The right side is just a smidge higher than the left. Tried to adjust it but didn't work.
