what is the effect of 10% ethanol in premium?

If I did my math right, which would be a small miracle, I get 6.67% less horsepower and torque on gasoline with 10% ethanol (66% X 10% = 6.67 %). Is this correct? I'm interested for dynomometer reasons, not greenpeace considerations. Thanks.!

what is the effect of 10% ethanol in premium?

Some claim fewer mpg and others fewer horsepower? Does anyone know, assuming 93 octane gasoline? Thanks.

    Baby's come home to pappa

Hey,guys, with 570 h.p. at 5,500 and 607 torque at 4,500, if you add the VEC3 hi-po card from Roe Racing with Bellanger full exhaust header system, do you think this car should make more than 600 h.p. at the flywheel? I will dyno it when the clutch and pressure plate (new, too) are broken in...

    Baby's come home to pappa

Thanks, guys, it does have the comp coup swing arm oil pickup. She has nearly 100 psi @ crankup, and 85 or so thr rest of the time. Did I mention the full bellanger system (no crossovers, and very COOL side panels) and the hipo VEC 3 card? I'm thinking more than 600 hp at the flywheel with...

    Baby's come home to pappa

My Arrow engined SRT10 Viper has come home with an attitude. The engine is completely remanufactured, peaking 569.9 hp at 5500 rpms and 607 lb ft of torque at 4,500 rpms. All this is measured at the flywheel, with stock ECM and Factory exhaust manifold and pipes, except NO CAT. It has a new...

    Warranty rebuild

The eagle has landed. I should have my car back in a few days with plenty extra horses. Of course, too much horsepower is Never enough.

    Warranty rebuild

Hypothetically, if a motor with 570/607 using stock ECM and Exhausts (less cats) were to add Bellanger headers with hiflo cat exhaust, with no crossover pipes and with a VEC3 tuner and greens filters, what flywheel h.p./torque would be likely? (610-620h.p./660-670 torq.?) Assuming 12% loss to...

    Warranty rebuild

I asked specifically about the exhaust and ECM, and was told that both the exhaust manifold and the ECM were stock, though the exhaust did not have a cat. I'll check my notes to see if the 2,500 rpm was torque instead of horsepower. I could very easily have confused the two. Thanks, everyone...

    Warranty rebuild

No one has replied to this post, so I'd like to ask a question in order to gain your knowledge: Has anyone to your knowledge had results similar, whether a little more or a little less, to these numbers on their warranteed rebuild of a gen. III? By the way, max torque was at 4,600 rpm's...

    Mid-South members

I'm glad the zone is active and staying strong. It's been a while since I have been in this zone, but this is where my heart is, so I'll be trying to make some of the scheduled events. My National Chrysler 300 club meeting is in May, so that will pre-empt the Viper meet. Some of us old cogers...

    Viper Tech

At Lakeshore Dodge in Slidell, SE LA, the Vipertech is Mike Ansalaro, 985-642-9595. He is very capable and has even mounted superchargers to Magnums, Hemi pickups, Vipers, etc. He works very reasonably on non-authorized special hop-ups, and a number of local Viper owners will attest to his...

    Warranty rebuild

Some of you won't believe the numbers: max of 607 lb ft torque, 569.9 peak h.p. @5,500 (forgot the peak torque rpm's, but have it written down at the office), at the FLYWHEEL. Above 500h.p. at all rpm's over 2,500. I guess it will be worth the wait for the rebuild. This will be one strong...

    exhaust

From what I have observed, it depends on what you want the new exhaust to do. If you want quiet, it's one thing. If you want performance and strong sound under full acceleration, it's another. The one which I like best is both cool (without the crossover pipes) and strong-like a Man's man-car...

Looking to buy a 2005 SRT-10 need advise

Don't even hesitate to do it. I have had a gen. I, II, and now III. The III is so much better in driveability and seating position and easier to drive fast that it ain't even FUNNY!! NOW that I've said that, beware of any 2005 that is out of warranty. It must have a factory warranty unless...

SRT/10 engine going to Arrow for rebuild

My engine has a slightly spun rod and only slipped slightly when fully warmed up and reved lightly above idle speed, or upon light accelaration on the highway, so I doubt there is very much damage--just enough to need rebuilding by the Arrow team. They should receive it by Monday (it's being...

SRT/10 engine going to Arrow for rebuild

4th rod bearing failure, which is probably the most common failure for Viper engines. It has something to do with the fact that this is the rod bearing which is the Last bearing in the engine to receive oil from the pump. My car was driven by a DC bigwig in its infancy, and must have been...

SRT/10 engine going to Arrow for rebuild

Can anyone accurately convert the crankshaft h.p. and torque for the SRT/10 Arrow rebuilt Viper motor to FLYWHEEL h.p. and torque? In the alternative, can anyone accurately convert crankshaft h.p. and torque to REAR WHEEL h.p. and torque? Inquiring minds want to know....Thanks.

SRT/10 engine going to Arrow for rebuild

Does anyone have any observations/recommendations about an Arrow rebuild (under factory warranty)? I have heard through the years that their rebuilds are a little stronger than the factory made it when new. Is this true? Thanks!

Spun rod bearing at 3-4 pistons

Re: Preventing Spun rod bearing at 3-4 pistons I had suspected that someone must have tracked this car in its early life, and you guys have the same thoughts as to the cause of its engine failure. I think I will ask Arrow to add the swing oil pickup and highflo oil pump, in case I want to do...

Spun rod bearing at 3-4 pistons

I wonder how many of other VCA members have experienced spun bearings at 3-4 pistons on their Gen III's. My car was originally a Chrysler executive car, and I bought it used with about 10,000 miles on it. Thank God it's still under the 3 year warranty! No telling how the car was abused...

Anyone using the VEC3 with or without a supercharger?

Sean prepared a stock card and a performance card with my mods considered: Bellanger full exhaust without crossover pipes, greens filters and otherwise stock. So the VEC3 should be ready to go with either card, according to Roe Racing. Am I missing something?

got a ticket in cali higways over 100 ph

There's a 3rd option to the first two, but I put them in this order: 1. Take it to the track, 2., don't get caught, or 3. get caught by a lawman like the deputy who caught me doing 80+ this week and let me go if I'd let him look inside. ( I was more than Happy to let him look inside AND under...
