I agree 100%. I have "converted" 3 "salvage" cars to race cars (2 Vipers) with no problems, only one was a flood car though. That one needed a new motor (it wasn't a Viper, though).
I will run an accusump on my new car, but in the old class it wasn't legal for the Vipers. Also, my car is hardly going to be a "big power" car; just a bit more than a Gen 4.
I have upgraded the oil pan to a Gen 4 pan. The Gen 3 CC pan only swings one way (for long left hand turns) and I lost two motors at Road America because of this. RA has a turn called The Carousel that is a long RIGHT hand turn, and my motors starved for oil because of this.
I petitioned SCCA...
Mark,
I was planning on giving you guys a call. My crew chief and I have been talking to Rick Maxwell, and I suspected you would be able to help with at least the windshield.
I can see me resorting to a "stock" Gen 4 hood, which would be fine. But I'd really like to take as much weight off...
I have checked those listed (and more) and haven't found what I am looking for. The Vipair hood would not be rules compliant because of the raised section, and the Comp Coupe replica has too much additional venting (144 sq inch max permitted).
No one lists a windshield or rear window.
All,
I have done what I think is a pretty extension Internet search, but haven't found what I need. Some help would be appreciated. I am looking for:
lightweight Carbon Fibre Gen 4 hood (I know of the Seibons part, but it weighs 40 lbs)
Lexan Gen 3 windshield
Lexan Gen 3 coupe rear glass...
If you are referring to Memphis Motorsports Park, my guess would be in the 1:10 range. I ran my T1 2004 there two years ago and we qualified in the high 11s. We would be a second faster under the same conditions I am sure.
Nelson Ledges were run low to mid 1:09s and the benchmark for the ACR...
Good chance that you are right. Like a good cornerback, I have forgotten it already. I am now focusing on the net race: the American Road Race of Champions at Road Atlanta on November 6th thru the 8th.
Yes, Lance an I hooked up together, especially on his third qualifying session. I gave him a...
All, below are some general specs for cars eligible for SCCA's new in 2009 STO (Super Touring Over) class. This is a Corvette and Viper class with many modifications permitted, the ones we all want to make on our cars. These cars ARE fast.
SCCA’s STO class.
Corvette 5.7 3135 lbs
Corvette 6.0...
Hey all!
Tough week at Road America. I love that track but it hasn't loved me back yet.
I lost my second B&B'ed motor on the second lap of the first qualifying session (Tuesday). The first one went kaplooie at The June Spints. This was a big set back as the replacement was a more-or-less...
I am quoting myself so I can explain my comments. I re-read what I typed and it looks a bit condescending, and that is not my intention. the ST track record? I know that you were coasting, and that is what I was laughing at. I am almost 100% sure your's is the first ST lap ever made at Nelson...
Geez, Frank, I am sorry about your weekend. Two reasons:
#1. It was so terrible to you. Generally SCCA events at Nelson Ledges are run pretty well.
#2. If I would have known you were coming up I would have dropped by to say "hi."
This morning my brother told me there was a CC at the...
