Any have more info when building their motor and upgrading the oiling system.

Be good to hear from the ******** track guys what their doing on the oiling system issue and how they are handling this important upgrade?

I found a post from a VCA member saying this below

"What let go on my 520 stroker was the number three rod..... A well known problem that has to do with the oiling system.

If I were building this engine my biggest concern would be the quality of the oiling system I put in it. I think pressures need to be around 80 psi to keep the engine alive."

Might want to call exoctic engines in Nevada.
My oil pressure is rarely outside the 80 to redline range and they built it.

I have upgraded the oil pan to a Gen 4 pan. The Gen 3 CC pan only swings one way (for long left hand turns) and I lost two motors at Road America because of this. RA has a turn called The Carousel that is a long RIGHT hand turn, and my motors starved for oil because of this.

I petitioned SCCA to allow 2003-2006 T1 Vipers to upgrade to the Gen 4 pan and pickup; this is said to fix the issue.

There is some minor fabrication needed to get the pickup attached to a Gen 3 pump, but it is minor.

if you're running a big power car, the '08 pan will get starvation as well, I know I burned up a billet crank and some rods with an '08 pan. That '08 "upgrade" cost me a bunch of money.

the only way to be 100% solid is to either go full dry sump or run an external sump pump on a stock pan.

I will run an accusump on my new car, but in the old class it wasn't legal for the Vipers. Also, my car is hardly going to be a "big power" car; just a bit more than a Gen 4.
