HMS = Good product + Bad service??

The best price I found for my smooth tubes was from partsrack. Also, excellent service and friendly staff (and that was even before Jon B was hired!). As far as Hennesey's tubes being the "best," I wouldn't sweat that, as long as the tube is rigid enough not to "taco" under pressure, and is in...

    Stock '01 RT/10: 427 RWHP, 463 ft/lbs uncorrected

Re: Stock \'01 RT/10: 427 RWHP, 463 ft/lbs uncorrected Nice numbers. But, aren't the CORRECTED numbers the only ones that really matter? Otherwise, it's kinda like apples to oranges given the huge effect that temps and pressure can have on power numbers. That said, Venom Lover's ~420-425 hp...

8 min video of Nurmb Ruf Porsche

Very nice! You should also check out the latest Sports Illustrated - it has an extensive write up of the Nurburgring. Seemed like the guy in the Ruf was using mostly 4th and 5th - anyone know how tall 5th in the Ruf is? BTW - Given that it is a racetrack, the cars are only allowed to go in...

Re: What does GTS stand for? That\'s what I asked her... ktrends - Although I am no Supra fan, I thought your post was just a friendly jab and not nearly as bad as some more "Viper-related" rants I have seen. However, I'm not the one spending my free time moderating the Board, so my opinion...

    What's up with TNT exhaust?

What\'s up with TNT exhaust? Can anyone share their impressions of the TNT cat-back exhaust? I don't understand why the exhaust system costs $1,500 MORE than a Borla set up. Doesn't TNT use Dynomax mufflers or the equivalent, to avoid the Borla drone? If that is the case, why not just get a...

    Hennessey Motorsports

I think that the calls for censoring posts that are not obscene and relatively germane to the topic is a bit over-the-top. As a long-time reader/poster of the old/new board, I have noticed a slant among some of the senior members/moderators of the board, i.e., anti-street racing, pro-driving...

    Hatch Glass Repair

It's covered by warranty - I had mine replaced a few months back when I noticed it was pulling off the latches. However, I did need to adjust the rubber grommets along the lower portion of the hatch frame to contact the glass by raising them a bit to avoid a rattle at freeway speed.

Best differential ratio for weekend driver.

I would recommend the 3.54/3.55 set up as a happy medium. I had them installed about two months ago, and I am pleased with the improved seat of the pants feel (I also think that it will help 1/4 et's by raising the average hp and tq during the 1/4 mile run, but haven't had a chance to test that...

    No cats with stock resonators?

As to the concern over the environment, the marginal amount of pollution that will be set forth upon the atmosphere from the extra carbon exiting my car a handful of miles a year is nothing to lose sleep over. The pollution created from one cow (i.e., the environmental harm from the harvesting...

    No cats with stock resonators?

After experiencing the power of a cat-free Gen II this weekend (thanks Paul) I've decided to pull my cats. However, if I do this before switching over to the Borla, or comparable, system, what will the effect be on the stock resonators? Will the removal of the cats fry the stock resonators or...

Anybody have the BTR full exhaust system???

As for the smog issue, what guys in SoCal that I know do is to have a flange installed in the pipe rear of the collector so that you can leave the cats off, then once every two years unbolt the flange and put the cats on for your smog inspection. Note, however, that before you rip your cats off...

    Question on tires

Venom, I've heard numerous times on the old board how mixing and matching tire models will exacerbate the tracking issues that the Viper displays sometimes on grooved roads like freeways, etc. I'm not sure why, but this is the anectdotal evidence. As to alternatives to Michelin, the Pirelli...

what Mods would you put on for $5000

Uh oh, Viper00RT, now you did it! - Mention "street racing" in this forum and chances are you will get a severe scolding Just kidding, street racing is stupid, but .......- the politically correct description to effect the same intent would be "I'd like to maximize my 1/4 mile potential on...

    What's the scoop on supercharging?

What\'s the scoop on supercharging? Before dropping a chunk of change on any big time mods, I was wondering about the supercharging path. Anyone with any experience as to the cost, driveability, problems, advantages of supercharging the Viper? Like everything else with the Viper, I assume it...

K&N Airbox vs Smooth Tubes and Filters?

The explanation I was given is that for about $400 more, the carbon fiber airbox will give you a little more power at high speed (i.e., when the effect of the forced air through the airbox is greatest). However, I was told by the dealer that the new airbox is not good with rain and water...

    Question about rear muffler replacement

I'm thinking about removing the rear muffler and replacing it with straight pipes - snake oyl or generic - question is, in removing the rear muffler, is it a clamp that needs to be removed, or does the muffler have to be cut off? Thanks.

    Differential Ratio....3.45 or 3.54

I just got my gear swap done at Unitrax last month (the invoice said 3.55, but I thought the Dana ratio was 3.54 as well). Anyway, I'm very pleased with the performance of the car. It doesn't feel anywhere near as rough as the 4.54's I have on my Chevelle, and it has much more perceived pickup...

Anyone want 8 more HP ?

Are you talking about Red Line oil - that's the stuff that Summit and Bill Kuhlman claim gives you .2 off your et. Only problem is they aren't recommended for street use - maybe a problem with low rpm or start up lubrication? Anyway, are there any issues with street use with the oil you are...

    Anyone know wheel lug pattern/size?

Yeah, I just can't see dropping $1800 on a set of slicks and wheels. I think it might be cheaper to get a 15' or 16' dakota wheel and have it welded and backspaced to fit a 10' slick. I had a guy backspace and increase the size of a set of rallye wheel drag rims for about $400.

    Anyone know wheel lug pattern/size?

Anyone know the precise wheel lug pattern/size for their Viper? As best I can tell, it's 6" x 4 1/2". Anyone know whether this is correct, or better yet, if a mass produced after-market rim comes in this pattern? Thanks.

    Question re: Drag Rims

I'm looking for a set of rear 10" rims with the proper offset for use with drag slicks on my 97 GTS. Would the fronts from a Gen I or Gen II work? Also, all the new/used rims I've seen for sale are more than $1000. This seems high, especially when you can get a set of GM rallye's with a...
