    S. Cal. Viper Club at Buttonwillow this weekend, who's all going???

Re: S. Cal. Viper Club at Buttonwillow this weekend, who\'s all going??? I'd like to see the Sedan Showdown, but I don't know if the conditions of my parole allow me to leave Orange County - maybe I can gnaw Tony's tracking device off my ankle and get out of the house. I need to scout out...

Ideas on daily driver - I've confused myself

Re: Ideas on daily driver - I\'ve confused myself A lot of it depends on whether you want a 2 or 4 door and the functions it will have to perform. I was in the same position looking for a daily driver in that price range. I found that once I got used to the Viper, any other pure sportscar...

    Please help, rear end swaps

You might want to give Unitrax (I believe they are on the VCA suppliers page) a call - they are located in Fullerton or Anaheim, California and are quite experienced with Viper rear ends, not to mention helpful. Good Luck.

Pick your races better next time ! Save us all the embarrassment !!

Kinda funny how a Viper getting beat is an embarassment, but whenever I bang on C5 or ZR1 guys for getting smoked I always get the "well maybe he just wanted to see you run" excuse.

what colour stripes would look the best on a Black RT/10

I like Black/White like some of the older Cobra racers. Then you could get a vanity plate that says "PPELAPU" or "SKUNKDU".

Re: Used 18\" Pilot sports Wasn't Lil' Whoadie running the setup where you could manually alter the brake front/rear bias from inside the car? What happened?

Dyno results, can anyone explain please?

Hmmmmm, maybe things are different on the other side of the pond, but I have always been advised (and I have actually taken that advice) to make my dyno runs in 4th gear, since that is the 1:1 ratio in the transmission. 5th is overdrive, and I think the reduction may effect power numbers...

95' RT/10 almost ate it at 135 MPH

Re: 95\' RT/10 almost ate it at 135 MPH As far as "staying off the ****ing highway," as long as mother hens stay in the ****ing right lane where they and their Zaino queens belong, we'll get along just fine . Just talking a little smack. Anyway, as far as the ever-popular "bang for the buck"...

95' RT/10 almost ate it at 135 MPH

Re: 95\' RT/10 almost ate it at 135 MPH Although I appreciate the sentiment, I too am a little tired of the "take it to the track" and "the first modification you should make is a trip to driving school" party lines. I personally have no desire to get the front of my Viper pock-marked by rocks...

Has Dodge considered a HP boost for 2002?

Bench racing is so named because it is theoretical racing that takes place on a work bench usually between two guys having a couple of beers. Supra owners seem to excel at it, along with guys who've never sniffed a track. Beggar, you are still using crank hp numbers put out by manufacturers...

Has Dodge considered a HP boost for 2002?

Let's look at lb/hp using rwhp numbers from the same dynojet for both a ZO6 and GTS (from Venom Lover's runs): ZO6 3116lb/331rwhp = 9.41 lb/hp; '97GTS 3460lb/426rwhp = 8.12 lb/hp; thus, Viper clearly has an advantage. Looking at rwtq without applying gearing correction: ZO6 3116/338rwtq = 9.22...

Has Dodge considered a HP boost for 2002?

I am basing my numbers on dyno numbers I witnessed at the rear wheel (hence my reference to "rwhp" and "rwtq") - that is where I'm seeing the 100 ft/lb. difference. The numbers you must be talking about are multiplying the tq number by the gear to get an overall "thrust" or torque to the ground...

Has Dodge considered a HP boost for 2002?

Beggar: don't believe everything you read. I've seen dyno runs with both the ZO6 and GTS, and while there is some variance in 2001 ZO6 rear wheel numbers (great quality control on individual tolerances from GM), the ZO6 is still 70-90 rwhp and over 100 rwtq down on a '97 Gen II. That...

    Valet Parking Advice....

No matter what you do there will still be some risk when giving your keys over to someone else. There was a story not too long ago about a valet and his buddy totaling a Ferrari at the Ritz Carlton in Dana Point - they smacked a palm tree in the lot. I'd say if you have to valet, as long as...

Has Dodge considered a HP boost for 2002?

There's no way Dodge would steal the thunder from their triple 500 debut in 2003 by tipping the 500 hp mark before that. I know your jibes were probably just an attempt to prod Dodge to give us a little more power , but come on - you and I both know the ZO6 in its current or near-future form...

    Dodge reliability concerns-

I'd recommend going for it. I've had mine for a little over a year, and it really is a simple car, so there is less to break. In my experience, the drivetrain is the last thing to worry about in a car that is driven normally on the street - things like electrical crap and other high-tech...

    My Dad wrecked my Viper!

That sucks. Hey, if it's totaled out, do you get to strip it and keep the parts, or are they just sold by the insurance company to help offset the price of replacement?

    Best towels to use?

I bought a few Fieldcrest towels that were irregular size or something online for about $28. I cut off the ends and used them for the first time 2 weeks ago. Not only was using the towels much easier than my tried and true chamois, but I got a better result (except for the little bits of fluff...

Dynoed my Snake @ HMS yesterday...

Nice numbers - my '97 dynoed at 422 rwhp and 456rwtq (both adjusted) with smooth tubes and K&N's, so I guess you are picking up about 30 hp with the exhaust mods. I believe Venom Lover had similar increases over his baseline with Borla headers and exhaust.

    Morning laugher - "8AVIPER" C5 on I-5

Morning laugher - \"8AVIPER\" C5 on I-5 Got a call from a buddy coming into the office this morning who saw a late model piss yellow C5 with the vanity tag "8AVIPER" on I-5 coming north in OC. Needless to say, I couldn't scramble the Viper soon enough to intercept. Silly tupperware driver

anyone heard of Z06 rag top ?

I think the ZO6 started production in 2001, so I think the car the guy has could be a number of things - 1) a pre-production car contracted by GM (but I would think GM would keep all that sort of thing in house), in which case I couldn't guess at the price; 2) a 2000 convertible with an LS6...

Do most of you feel the need to buy new rear tires by 8/10K? I am very curious!

I got 3.55's about 1,000 miles ago, and with about 13,000 miles total I figure I've got 4-5,000 more on my original tires, including a few trips to the drag strip and occassional high speed off ramp sweepers.

    Got SMOKED by a Gixxer

Paul, I think you are forgetting that we are talking about MY Viper, not your underpowered newer version. Anyway, the real comparison I'd like to see in the suggested "Carlbad to San Clemente Cannonball Run" is the race between the 750, the 1000 and the R1. I figure after about the first two...
