Re: 97 Blue
ldq23,
We just toured ASC's Livonia facility in mid January and were told Viper body panels were again being made by an outside supplier. I know last year, ASC's Trenton plant was making body panels, but that facility was has been closed. Is that correct?
I did the 2 day advanced school at Laguna Seca last Nov. I'd definitely recommend it. The students were more focused, serious and faster than any other driving school I've attended. The instructors were excellent. The class assumes you know fundamentals and stresses seat time and driver...
Casey, in the last three years I got two tickets in Indiana. Had my V1 on in both cases. First time was on the Borman Xway. A black Camero comes screaming up behind me and on go the strobes. I ask him to see the radar gun and he says, sorry we got you from the plane. Can you believe that...
I don't think your numbers look all that bad. A strong stock Gen II would be in the 410 range. I've seen some as low as 390. Our club has a Dyno Day coming up on 4/23 at Street Stuff in Addison. Here's the info if you want to participate.

A friend of mine's brother sold his 1963 Cobra CSX 2128 at the Russo & Steele auction in Phoenix last month. Car has Shelby Race Team history. It went for $1,975,000, before commission. The price you see on the web page is the full price paid by the buyer. Click on the details link for...
CTViper I hope it isn't in the 60-65k range. I agree with Hisserman it wouldn't be a Corvette fighter at 65k. Chrysler surprised me with the very reasonable pricing on both the 300C and the Magnum RT, so I'm hoping maybe 45-50k could be realistic. In between Hisserman's Firepower photo's...
The Firepower could definitely be a home run for Chrysler. If they can keep the price mid 40's and don't stray to far from the concept then it's a winner. The Charger on the other hand is so far removed from the concept car you wouldn't even think it was built by the same company. Here's the...
The IL VCA had our annual Detroit trip to tour ASC, Roush Racing(Builder of the Comp Coupe) and go to the Detroit Auto Show. The photos Chris Marshall posted earlier were from our lunch stop at ASC where we arranged to have one of the new SRT coupe mules (I think an SO status car) and the...
Saw it today at the Detroit Auto Show. Absolutely beautiful in person. Aluminum skin poured over plastic composite. Caught part of the presentation and I think its a 605 HP V-10. This car is so much better looking than last year's Shelby concept.
Tucked at the bottom of the article is the more feasable reason they pulled the plug on this awesome car. "The ME Four-Twelve was a pet project of former Chrysler Chief Operating Officer Wolfgang Bernhard, who takes charge of Germany's Volkswagen brand next month." Is DCX going to build a...
Have to agree with Plumcrazy on these tires. The Uniform Tire Quality Grade (UTQG)for the BFG's is 300. The UTQG for Pilot Sport's is 220. The lower the number the softer the tire. Here are a few ex:
Pirelli PZero Asimmetrico- 140
Kuhmo V700- 50
Kuhmo V710- 30
Hoosier A3S03- 40
Check...
Buy the insurance! Hoosier Daddy and I saw a young guy put his Panoz GT-RA into the wall between turns 3 & 4 during that same Road Atlanta school. Within an hour the Panoz staff gave the father the $22k damage estimate. He had bought the insurance so it cost him the $4k right there and...
Tom, good site. I added it to my favorites.
Plumcrazy, here's an easy way to remember UTQG (Uniform Tire Quality Grade)
This is the system the Tire Rack uses and it's the way the IL VCA matrix is set up.
A UTQG of 140 and above is a street tire. Below 140 is a competition tire. The lower the...

Wayland, I'm always interested in a track in our backyard. Cost is an issue. We just bought new timing equipment last year which put a nice dent in our cash position. I've already booked next year's events. However, I've talked to another IL VCA member, who belongs to ACC, and we might try...
Just got off the phone with John Gastman. Yesterday's tornado in Roanoke came within a 1/4 mile of the dealership. They watched as it approached then took cover in the middle of the building. He didn't think any of the outside vehicles were damaged, but hasn't had time to check them out. He...
Markus, didn't know about your crash until today. I'm so glad you are alright! We really look forward to you coming to Detroit each January and touring CAAP with the IL VCA. Hope you come back in 2005! Painted lines and wet weather don't mix. I attended one of Woodhouse's Panoz driving...
Hi Casey. Good seeing you at US 41 this weekend. Our club went to Street Stuff for our Dyno Day in April. They do have a Dynojet 248. They are located at 633 S. Addison Rd, Addison IL. (630-832-3773) www.streetstuff.com
Yes it is true. He was suppose to be co-head of MB starting May 1st and take over completely in Aug. It's really sad because he is a true car guy. I hated to see him leave Chrysler because he was such a huge Viper fanatic. When the IL VCA auto-crossed against the DC executives he never...
