    electric exhaust cutouts

I was not considering doing this to my Viper, just looked interesting and I know there have been several threads on people asking about this. This was the first time I have actually seen one in operation. I followed the link from the video to an company at rolloutedition.com who sells these...

    electric exhaust cutouts

I know there have been several queries about doing this, but this is the first I have seen on a viper. Not sure if you gain much with just cutting out the rear resonators other than sound. http://videos.streetfire.net/search/viper/0/226b3a69-62e8-48b9-94ba-991900c33ce1.htm

    New Battery Suggestions

I've seen all the discussions about the issues of the terminals of an Optima fitting into the Viper, but since it is a sealed battery, has anybody tried some sort of horizontal mounting (mounting it so the side terminal are pointing up)? Not sure about rigging the hold downs on the battery, but...

    Garage Lighting

I use fluorescents also. Since you live up north, be aware that the electronic ballasts (as opposed to the magnetic ballasts) are recommended for temperatures below 50. The T-12s are harder to start in cold temps. Also, the T-8 bulbs are more energy efficient.

Borla or Corsa for my completely stock 02 RT/10?

I did mine in a stages. First was the Corsa catback, which gave me a much improved throaty sound over stock without drone and with great looking tips. Next came the Belanger headers. Volume went up a bit and the tone deeper. Finally, I did the Random Tech hi-flow cats, which made it much louder...

    Good viper shops in DFW?

BDZ1984, what the heck is in your drivers side headlight... Looks like a yellow fish.

Garage height needed for 4 post lifts ???

I also had my garage door opener repositioned to the edge of the door(otherwise it would have come too close for comfort to the windshield of my Viper). You can do this if you have a single bay door, I don't think it is possible to do this with a wider door.

Scratches on rear spoiler syndrome (?)

I see them in my RT/10 spoiler and it raises with the trunk lid, so my personal theory is that the spoiler is just doing its job which is deflecting air, but also this causes any airborne particulates to hit the spoiler deck and causes the scratches. Maybe a stretch, but I couldn't think of...

Parts and accesories/ Trustworthy installs in DFW

Since you are in the DFW area, come to the monthly meetings of the North Texas VCA group. You can see cars with mods and talk with lots of others who probably have tried most installers, mods, etc that you might be thinking yourself. Calender of events, meetings are all at...

    DFW viper shops???

I agree, Keith has done a lot of work on my Gen 2 and Gen 3 vipers and I have always been completely satisfied with his work.

FED-X From VOI did not happen

Just got our packages today - complete with dirty laundry. One of the clocks was broken in shipment - looks like a truck ran over the box, but somehow the other clock survived. Now I guess I need to find out how to make a shipping damage claim....

Gen 2 wheels - really dumb question

My understanding is that it actually is a clear powdercoating, though I guess the care aspect of it is the same as a clear coat paint application.

    Random Tech Cat Question

I would say there is a very slight drone, not objectionable since I like the deeper growl the exhaust now has over the stock cats. The stock cats are a lot heavier - I put the stock cats in the attic and noticed they weigh a whole lot more than the RTs. I can go grab them and weigh the stock...

    Random Tech Cat Question

Just did this exact thing the other day. Replaced the stock cats on my 03 SRT/10 with metallic substrate RT cats - the rest of the exhaust is stock. Sound is just a little louder and a much deeper lower tone. Sills seem a little cooler, but have not done much comparison there yet.

want to get 500 rwhp VEC-2 Heads, Cam, Cats Which order should I go

You do not have to remove the engine to swap cams. I have done this on my 2000. Need to remove the cross-member, radiator, loosen motor mounts and tip the engine up about 10 degrees and it will clear. You do not even have to remove the AC condensor, so you do not have to do an refrigerant...

Upgrade to 708 Lumpy Cam or aftermarket?

Take a look here for a picture of the adjustable timing chain set. http://www.waverleychrysler.ca/parts4.asp Note that camshaft must be drilled and tapped for 3 gear mounting bolts. And yes, more specifically, I was talking about degreeing the camshaft. I had a conversation a while ago with...

Upgrade to 708 Lumpy Cam or aftermarket?

I put a 708 in my 2000 when I did heads. The only thing I regret now, and you might consider, is an adjustable timing chain so you can centerline the cam. This will typically require you to have the end of the cam machined to fit the mounting requirements of an adjustable chain setup. I think...

Best brake pads with the least dust?

I have the "old" EBC greens on my car and yes, they are pretty good on the low dust issue. I recently put on Brakeman 3s for a track day, and since then have left them on for the street. I thought they performed great on the track (waayy better than the EBC reds I ran before), and actually the...

Anybody driving as a group fro TX?

A small group from DFW will be leaving Friday Sept 22, for a two day caravan to Las Vegas for VOI-9, arriving at Las Vegas on Saturday. The route will be direct, DFW to Amarillo, I-40 to Kingman, NM, then Route 93 to Vegas. Current plans are for a more scenic route on the way back, if we aren't...

Brake pad choices? Stock + BBS wheels = Cleaning nightmare

I have heard Axxis brake pads mentioned with high regard on several other sites (other than Vipers), but I have not seen them talked about here. Anybody use these as an alternative pad? I have heard they have both a low-dust pad and a good track pad.

    Shoe marks on side sills

I know you are talking about removing the scuff marks (I have them on mine too!) but you could mount side sill cover plates to keep it from happening in the future. I know I have seen them somewhere, but I can't remember who had them....
