I think a big part of it is what car you are jumping from. Compared to a 4 banger with ~200 bhp it is going to seem insane. Against some thing with 400 bhp it feels manageable - you just grow to appreciate the instant torque.
The car itself isn't dangerous at all. I've seen videos of...
I know this thread is old, but wondering what the outcome was? I just purchased a 9550 SCT tuner for my 06. Not sure what month mine was mfr'd but it is a First Edition. I figure for the price I got it, if it doesn't work it won't be hard to sell to get my money back.
Thinking of just buying it and hoping for the best, $150 isn't bad, and 1 already sold since I put this thread up. I never see them below $200
Edit: Found this link for anyone wondering in the future:

As far as I can tell...
Normal street driving or track?
Personally I would replace it regardless. It wouldn't take much for that cut to open up wider/longer. Your Viper's safety is worth the price of a new tire. But depending on treadwear you may want to get a matching set.

There are 5 for sale. The ad says it only works on 99-02, but the part number is 9550.
Various reasons. From people I've talked to, it varies person to person. Some say it was too much power for them, so they only took it out on perfect weatther days for short rides. Others were afraid of it losing value with the mileage raising. Some didn't want to put any wear and tear or...
I try to ignore that it is made by Dodge. I don't get how they go from a Neon to a Viper. I made the mistake of joining an SRT forum thinking it was an... SRT forum? Nope, it was all Neons, and they hated on anything that wasn't a Neon. Don't understand why they even have sections for other...
So basically we just need to leave the hoods attached and we should be good to go. So those taking the hoods off and driving around with them off should be reinstalling their hoods now.
Maybe he just wanted to steal the Viper, but was enjoying driving it so much he wanted to drive it more and made up excuses to steal some other stuff...
Have never done it before - but it actually seems like a good idea as long as it isn't messing up the hood supports. I'm guessing they are designed to be able to hold the hood open for long periods of time though.
You get more power with forced induction for cheaper than an N/A build. Any reason people are wanting to go N/A?
I spent a **** ton of money on a Mustang I have trying to make N/A power. I gained maybe 100 rwhp all motor then said screw it, and for 1/6th of the price I spent on going all...
+1
It requires a special Viper glue to hold due to the torque it must embrace. The Viper glue goes for around $200 an ounce. An ounce might work, but most people need 2 to be sure it doesn't fall off in the future.
And to stay on topic - I've had this happen with a car that was around 10...
Ask if the paint is the original or if it has been repainted.
If the paint is the original, ask for the condition of the front bumper.
The last 1 is the 1 I wish I would of looked into. If the front bumper is rock chipped pretty bad, it means the car has been tracked a bit. The...
If you plan on some day selling it for a profit - keep it as is.
If you plan on enjoying it and just having it as part of your collection - start building.
Hmm, not sure about 96 but my 06 has a button to mute everything for when using a phone. Is there a mute button or a button with a phone on it that is maybe activated? Otherwise it may some thing simple as the last owner had an after market head unit and when putting the stock back in they...
