What is the approximate (calculated) amount of 3% under dealer's cost.
It is grim news.
Maybe we should all buy a second one to keep our first one company.
Ledfoot:
In that same post, if you recall, I also said I was 51 years old.
It was a hyperbole.
Mike:
I would have to look at the odometer. Is that the little gaugey thing where it keeps telling me "Door Ajar"?
If you car is going to sit up for extended periods, purchase a trickle charger. It is inexpensive and is a good idea for bikes as well as your fair weathered racer. You also have the option of sleep mode.
Start/Settings/Control Panel/Power Options/Hibernate
Wait, that can't be right.
Arthur:
That windshield decal was designed with my co-conspirator Neil-UK (VC Member from the UK...the country we beat in 1776) who is truly exceptional at such things. A nicer guy you will never meet. It reads: VIPER RACING and follows the contours of the windshield (er...he would say "wind...
Re: TAOD\'s version of the Copperhead.
Brian:
Unquestionably excellent craftsmanship, but the Copperhead will bear little resemblence to this fine machine.
I am not certain that any shade of orange is the best choice for a Viper, but I am not fond of blue either.
The Viper Mechanic
The closest Dodge dealership may not be the source for the best service on the SRT-10. Even the selling dealer may not have the expertise you need, and many have incredible stories regarding dealer service departments (the closest one to me was unable to make an extra key...
Rick:
6 miles. I was joking. I once posted that I had 200 (something) miles, and people believed that as well.
I had 850 miles on the red car at trade time; only owned it three weeks when the Mamba purchase option became available at Buhler Dodge (NJ).
Weather here permitted more winter...
That's completely correct. The car now has 6 miles on it. I have it trailered to the garage from the driveway and back...but only on overcast days, and it remains under the car cover even when outside. I have put it in sleep mode.
It is too noisey when I fire it up, and I broke a nail on...
Warfang:
The FAQ was an idea that emerged from the discussion.
The discussion emerged from noting interactions regarding the teen who wrecked his hours old SRT-10.
Also, note that (what we are guessing is a) new owner has wrecked his #2 Black Mamba in first gear. This is not an...
Dr. Melamed:
Sorry. Sux.
But were we not just all talking about this very thing?
Likely, not a good time to mention that.
At least it was not a Black Mamba....wait....well, at least it was not a low number Black Mamba....wait...
OK, I got nothing.
Excellent post, Chuck. I fear that the death of the 18 year old passenger at the hands of the 17 year old Viper "owner" has been a bit of a red herring.
I would not presume to fully understand the family's decision in buying the car and/or the kid's accident while operating it. All could...
Warfang:
I was not able to find a reference to a Danger label for the Viper. This was discussion of an FAQ section here (now implemented) and a dealership description of the car.
A dealership brochure, an FAQ, and/or even a driving school are not going to necessarily reduce accident/injury/death. They may, however, help to contribute to a more informed buyer/driver and provide a clarification and reminder of the unique responsibilities inherent in owning the SRT-10...
The tires themselves are, by design, a compromise. The Viper SRT-10 cannot store a spare wheel/tire and jack (all of which would also add to the cost of the car as well). The furnished tires provide a measure of assurance that the driver has run-flat protection to drive the car for tire...
"For Potential buyers, Viper realities we know now, but didn't know then:
It's the only car capable of making you feel like your in the passenger seat, while you sit in the driver seat...
It sets new rules, requires your full attention all the time, and will not tolerate any...
Mike:
Would you be comfortable with me cutting and pasting your first post in this thread to the FAQ section so that it could remain permanently? It is very well stated.

PROBLEMS WITH WHEEL HOP
A search of the topic of "wheel hop" will reveal extensive discussions of this problem and a range of solutions. We recommend that you search and read these posts.
Wheel hop is most apparent on hard acceleration on cold stock ("run flat") tires.
Solution approaches...
SILL TEMPERATURE CONCERNS:
The door sills on the SRT-10 have consistently been a matter of concern and comment. The increased insulation of the later SRT-10s has reduced this heat problem somewhat.
With stock exhaust and hard driving, the sill can reach a temperature at which paint damage...
Chuck:
What do you see as the implications?
I do not see the cars as equivalent, and am not certain that such a discussion would interest them.
What are your thoughts?
THE FIRST 500 Miles:
Your first 500 miles are important at three levels:
a. This is the period in which you follow rules for breaking in the car (outlined below)
b. This is also the period during which many, but certainly not all, problems will be noted with performance, function, fit and...
The following thread is solely for information helpful to the new or prospective SRT-10 buyer.
It is not a Discussion thread (which can occur elsewhere).
What we want from this thread are a series of message that provide the new/prospective owner with data that will be important to their...
