Gen V dyno - New Vid

Osamu Shikado, ex Toyota designer, under the tutorage of Freeman Thomas, ex Audi designer (TT) both of whom were then at DiamelerChrysler, is generally credited with the design concept for the Gen III. Freeman Thomas picked that design from an internal competition. The change in design direction...

Where are all the "real" track reports by owners?

Too bad there isn't a turning circle somewhere that some of this basic set up work can be done, followed by a turning "square" to get the transitions.:dunno:

Viper V-10 recieving upgrades in future?

The regulating body controls the weight and the intake size in order to "equalize" the performance of the cars. The desire is for close racing. BMW and AM have been very successful at working the regulating body to give them an advantage. The previous BMW had a front suspension different...

Viper V-10 recieving upgrades in future?

All it takes is cubic money! By changing the block material to an aluminum carbon fiber composite alloy, you can get the strength in the cylinder walls you need to increase the bore a bit. Several after market folks make heads, including MoPar (I believe), that flow a bit better. And then...

Have to say the Gen5 has the BEST exhaust sound of all generation Vipers

Facinating. When I lived in Ohio, I claimed I could tell crossing into Penn by the way the tires created droning on the PA concrete!!! Apparently the "Viper Drone" is in the Viper DNA and needs some gene therapy from Borla and Corsa!!! :2tu:

Have to say the Gen5 has the BEST exhaust sound of all generation Vipers

One other point on drones, they can be caused by tire/road interface vibrations and by engine vibrations. The needed element is something that will vibrate in harmony with the initiating vibration. The part(s) acts like a tuning fork. Again, this is a different issue than exhaust noise violume...

Have to say the Gen5 has the BEST exhaust sound of all generation Vipers

If it's a drone, it likely is a harmonic occuring inside the cabin. Due to the frequency of the exhaust, the cabin creats standing sound waves that reinforce themselves. It's like sitting inside a drum! This usually will occure at a specific exhaust frequency or frequencies and has little to do...

My Amazing Gen 5 Viper Adventure!

Facinating and informative:2tu: Many Thanks A specific question as to interior noise level. An article by a journalist reported high levels of interior noise from the exhaust. In addition he reported a drumming noise cause by a harmonic at highway speeds. What was your experience with...

    a little info on 2014

We used 220 work days a year as a calculating base for production at my pre retirement job. That means 1540 to 2200 cars a calendar year at the 7 to 10 cars a day figure. Recalling what Ralph has said on several occasions, that's the profitability range for the Gen V Viper with the lower figure...

What makes the Gen5 worth $100K?

We are not thinking animals; we are feeling animals that also think. Decisions are usually made intuitively and then defended rationally. All my senses respond positively to the Viper, therefore, I've come up with a whole lot of reasons why I have to have one!:headbang:

1 of 1 Viper made for Sergio! Many pics!

Early in the announcement process, Ralph said that SRT was looking at the process of offering custom paint jobs. Definately a doable. At the time he asked for time to get the launch going before adding more complexity. Good idea! IMO, SRT will go in the custom from the factory direction...

"Creating one-off vehicles never gets old for the design team at SRT®. Recently the group unveiled a special 2013 SRT Viper GTS for the Sons of Italy Foundation®, destined to be auctioned off, with all proceeds going to the group. The SRT Viper GTS that was built specifically for the Sons of...

    Dealer learning fast

Local SRT dealer, one of two, had the Viper sales person cramed in corner of main showroom on first visit and no cars. Gen V impressions after 1,200+ miles

Absolutely GREAT report. Many Thanks. Agree about the GT seat, option from Viper. As to the exhaust. been thinking about working with an after market supplier on a selectable exhaust, pipes all the way to the rear and blow across the diffuser or select to out the side. :dunno:

It's getting harder to maintain my enthusiasm...

IMHO, two things will solve all these problems: getting cars into the hands of owners and getting the dealer shake out completed. For the first, the production process needs stabilizing. For the second, I suggest that if you see a price tag with dealer adjustment, copy the number, tell the...

Mopar releases Viper PCM Code to Arrow and Arrington

Mopar releases Viper PCM Code to Arrow and Arrington

It is not only a matter of necessity, it is a matter of Personalization . I am convinced that the first thing cave people did upon taking over a cave was to move a rock from one side to the other. Not out of necessity but wanting to Personalize the cave, to make it unique so to speak. Many...
