    Hurst Shifter install

Did an install on my Gen 2. I did it when I replaced the slave cylinder in the car which failed. I put up a thread with the differences. Measurements with the knob etc. I tried and MGW First Strike i had as well. I even modified it (bore out a bit and cut the lower section) to sit lower in...

    O2 simulators hillbilly style........

Had a similar deal in an old car. Pulled the O2 sensors. What we did to protect them was to make a cover for the sensor to thread into. Protects the sensor...

    My New Carbon Dash

Love the look of the hydro dipping. It is an awesome finish. BTW... Where is that shifter from? I was looking for something with sneaky Pete but I can't seem to find one. That one would be perfect as I have an FE and it would match!

My '96 GTS beside '13 GTS Launch edition!

I like the Gen 2 more...:2tu: That's my story and I'm sticking to it! ... Unless I win the VCA raffle... Then I'll love both of them equally..:lmao: All joking aside... I think both are stunning cars... Love that they went back to he gen2 general concept with the lines of the 2013

Butyl Mat - Sound Deadner install and RESULTS

We went with the Hooker sidepipes and have the spiral baffles in there as well.... Have not run the engine yet though to know how loud. Just assuming it will be. Thanks for the info though! Good to know they work as advertised!

    1994 Viper - U joint replacement

+1 on Sassafras... I should have mentioned $100 per from Dodge. You could pick up Spicer units (who Dodge used as OEM for the Vipers) for a great deal less. I don't know you'll get those for $20... But definately in the $50 range with straps. If you replace all of them you'd be between $150 to...

    1994 Viper - U joint replacement

I would figure about $100 per u-joint would be what the parts would cost. This is not a difficult task depending on which ones (or all) you are replacing. Drive shaft joints are easy. Half shaft units are a bit worse.

    Does this exhaust look stock?

$49K is high for a 2002. Maybe a Final Edition in pristine shape could get up there at a dealer. I would figure that if hey took it in as a trade they would have valued it at $40K towards a new car buy. I would say you'll be able to negotiated to $45K. On this car, assuming pristine condition...

Butyl Mat - Sound Deadner install and RESULTS

Thanks! I've heard the same. On the Viper I am looking to add it to the seating area as well. We are re-doing a Vette and it's going everywhere. On the Vette we are also adding mass loaded vinyl as that will have an open exhaust (essentially) with the side pipes so I am sure it will need it...

Butyl Mat - Sound Deadner install and RESULTS

I used about 14 sheets. They are about 1 lb per sheet. Figure 14 lbs added. I lost more with the removal of the spare that has not gone back in. I may put it in there with poly fill all inside. Might improve the sound deadning... lol

Butyl Mat - Sound Deadner install and RESULTS

Re: Vinyl Butyl Mat - Sound Deadner install and RESULTS I continue on moving to smaller and smaller areas and panels as I go. I try to keep the overlap to less than 1/4" as I go. One tip I do have is that you keep all the scraps as you go. As you move to smaller parts, you will start using the...

Butyl Mat - Sound Deadner install and RESULTS

A bit of background. A couple of months back, I took out the rear can on the GTS and replaced it with some pipe with an X-Pipe in the center. Exhaust note improved dramatically and I am very happy with the mod. It did get a bit too loud in the cabin and I wanted to attenuate it a bit. I have a...

    Suggestions to improve airbox setup

Poorly done is an understatement. I think what you have is a carbon fiber intake plenum with the clear plastic cover for looks. (pretty cool I must say) However, the design is for a Gen 3 or 4 engine. The airbox you have up front is the shape of a Gen 2 unit. The way that would normally run is...

    Does this exhaust look stock?

I'd say that is a Corsa. 95% sure. Based on a couple of reasons. The length of the cans, the finish and the tips, all look like Corsa. Also, when you drive, if you have no drone... it's a Corsa. Borla cans are shorter and the tips are not the same. Belanger's mufflers are smaller and more...

    Spotted Exhaust Tips + radar

John. As mentioned, if properly installed, the power to the unit is only on with the key in the on or ACC position. Even so... If you located the control unit... It's a box that everything wires to... You can simply pull the power connector. You would not even need to cut wires or remove anything.

Hurst Shifter in the GTS - Before and After Measurements - Photos

As an update, the clearance of the unit against the ashtray has yet to be a problem. Has not hit or rubbed at all since I installed the unit so I think I am good to go. The only concern I have is the engine mounts. When I eventually change them, which will be sooner than later, may present a...

    Spotted Exhaust Tips + radar

On the exhaust tips, the spots can be a number of reasons. Might be as simple as somebody putting something on the tips while they were still hot. Either way, as mentioned, easily polished. Should not be too bad. On the radar detector, you can look at this thread. It's the install of an Escort...

Any way to remove bolt that holds spare tire in GTS?

Remove the spare. The bolt sits in a slot. I slides out in a second. As for the impact use of the tire, I don't believe that. When you see how the bolt is held in, you'll see this is likely a forum myth.

Moving from 18 to 19 tires

When you go to 19" wheels and tires you typically increase overall tire diameter. It is the small as going to a lower (numerically) rear final ratio. In short, it will be slower accelerating but better top speed and gas mileage since you rev less to move the same distance. There are benefits...

    WTB: SCT Tuner Hand Held

I'm going to hijack this thread... I need an SCT as well for my 2002 GTS. I've been wanting a tune done and need the SCT or it. If there is another after Keith locks his down, I'd be interested...

Does a car get louder with headers?

It could depending on the primary size and the final collector size. I would have to assume both are larger in the headers you are putting in. As a general rule, larger pipes, more noise. Larger pipes tend to give you more top range HP at the expense of low end torque.

In need of a mechanic. Tampa Bay. #slave cylinder

Slave is bad... Have them check the master as well which can be done by disconnecting the dry coupling at the slave. If this is disconnected the clutch pedal should not go down more than an inch or two before pressure is maxed out. If you have a bit of mileage on the car... Say 25 to 40k...
