I sat in a 458, the same day I tested the GEN5, and it was freakin' huge. Best interior of any car under $300k. Porsche is definitely the roomiest. I don't care so much about room as I do about visibility and basic comfort. I don't need to be cradled, but I don't want to be punished during the...
I just can't see myself compromising when the old Vipers didn't have these problems. I really want to, believe me, I have cash in hand to buy one. But ducking all the time just to see out the windshield is unacceptable to me if the old versions didn't have that problem. Honestly, it wasn't just...
I test drove the Gen 5 twice. I am 6'1" and had the exact same problem. I measured and verified I had 2" less headroom than my GEN2 GTS. I don't know how it compares to a GEN3/4 but it's definitely, without a doubt, less headroom than a GEN2 and 2" less upper windshield visibility. It's doesn't...
Um, let me settle this now. The confirmed dealer cash is $5,000 for the SRT and $10,000 for the GTS only for 2013's. This is a fact and can be confirmed by calling any SRT dealer. It's dealer cash, not a rebate, so he can do whatever he wants with it. Some dealers who have maybe two GTS's and...
I just drove my first GENV yesterday and noticed that compared with the GEN2 it's more cramped and has less headroom. I was shocked. I also noticed that the forward visibility is way less than the GEN2, again shocked. The seats in the GEN2 are lower and the windshield is taller. I thought the...
Your halfshafts will be next. Usable clutch life is 50k -150k. It depends on your driving style. Stock clutch is good for about 650 - 700 RWHP tops. With your power your clutch life may end sooner. Get a SPEC twin disk setup and call it a day. That clutch and flywheel is so light your engine...
I noticed the same thing on my sidewinders that I put on my GEN2. But my lug nuts are chrome also, so the silver center cap matches and provides a contrast. Either way, yours looks good. I just love these rims. The hyper black hides the brake dust and actually makes the color look even cooler.
Sorry to hear. I don't see it in the classifieds. What color, trim, and price? Keep in mind GTS's are selling for $94k - $99k new, if you want to move it quick.
It's unfortunately the only way to get the best tire ever made. I mounted R888 305's on my GTS 17's and they work great, look weird, but hook better than anything. PSS, PS2, and PSC's can't touch the R888 on the street or the track.
You need to go test drive both. The GEN-1 is amazing to anyone that never had a Viper. The GEN-2 is amazing to GEN-1 owners once they drive it. The suspension on the GEN-2 is completely redesigned, the chassis is 50% stiffer, and rear exit just sounds better on a stock 708 cam, the interior is...
You will be happy with either one if it's your first Viper. But having owned both, the GEN-II GTS is noticably better that the GEN-1 RT/10 in every respect, on the street and on the track. I ended up selling my RT/10 last year because the GTS just made it pointless. The suspension is way better...

If I could ask anybody anything, I wish I could track down the original owner and ask him "WHY?"
He must have lost a bet or something. After years of circulation it still cracks me up.
UPDATE: After years of wondering I...
Doing a couple neutral 3k hits of nitrous does more damage than good to your engine. Dave Koehler, who had been racing nitrous since the 60's and was a nitrous tech rep at IHRA and NMCA said that "any time you free rev an engine, with or without nitrous, you shorten its...
That's because Nitrous backfire isn't caused by not purging, it's cause by a lean nitrous condition. Purging is not necessary for engine safety, you've been misinformed. If you had a backfire before (probably not on a Viper), it was not caused by air in the line. Without purging you may...
How so? Purging is so unnecessary on the Viper. When the line fills with 1000 PSI of Nitrous, the air in there gets compressed, to the point that you end up with very little air volume in the line. The time it takes for the entire line to purge through the foggers is literally about a second...
