Ok, here is my experience....
On the GEN1 I had to go with a 175 degree thermostat. I only use Motul 600 and I upgraded my brake booster to a used GEN2 booster and what a difference. Do NOT use cheap brake fluid, you will regret it or could lose your car. Never run on brake fluid that is over...
3.73's = 61mph at redline, like I said, the top of second or the bottom of third.
The car is typically rated for 0-60 in 4.4 - 4.8 seconds depending on the reviews. 4.3 by a professional driver in perfect conditions is not typical, so 4.6 was not a 'bit slow' on street tires, especially when...
GT500 tranny and rear end are completely different and I believe you have a 3.31 diff. But I'm positive that redline was hit just under 40 in 1st and just at or under 60 in 2nd. He does have the track pack, so I assume he has a 3.73 rear end. It didn't deter us from getting great 60 second...
I just signed up for track insurance for this Sunday through Steve. It was painless and gives me peace of mind. $185 for $28k coverage on an RT/10 is great!
It looks like so far the only other Viper going to be there is Ralph Gilles with his 2013! I guess I get to hang with Ralph for a day...
I just did a few 0-60 blasts in my buddy's 2013 5.0 last week. Was at the top of 2nd gear shifting into 3rd when passing 60, stock rear end. 1st goes to about 38mph, and 2nd just about tops off at under 60. I was able to pull off a best 0-60 of 4.6 seconds with an average of 4.7 seconds.
Guys, it's wheelspin based so it's not accurate. Get a G-Tech for accurate readings. Ford does the same thing in the Mustang, but because you need to be in 2nd or 3rd gear to hit 60, their's is more accurate.
In order for the new ACR to be the King of the Ring again, SRT would have to get a tire that is barely street legal, that beats the Corsa and PS-Cup. I think the Corsa's will hold the ACR back. On the other hand, if SRT would give an optional track tire that is DOT approved, similar to a Toyo...
GEN1 has completely different control arms. All steel, and the lowers are tubular steel and can take a hard hit. You will likely break something else before you break a GEN1 control arm; nothing short of a full on accident would bend them, let alone break them. That's why the GEN2 lost 60lbs in...
That's not something to be proud of. Oil that old gets water in it and can break down and lose it's protective qualities. Even if you drive it 100 miles a year, change the oil once a year.
Good job on saving this one. I'm glad it will be on the street rather than being parted out.
I grew up on the original Transformers myself, but I was (still am) a bigger fan of Voltron.
I have a diecast Voltron in a box! LET'S FORM VOLTRON!
Maybe I should put a big V for Voltron on my GTS cap.
Wow, this is scary. Good thing I track my GEN1 and not my GEN2. That could be really bad on the track. I never heard of this problem; there should have been a safety recall on all of them if this happens often.
I really wish SRT would offer Michelin's as a factory option. The bottom line is Pirelli's are overpriced and suck in comparison to the Michelin's. Listen to the tire feedback in the video. The Pirelli's are squealing too soon and too loud. The Michelin's are quiet and composed. Either the...
It's the Pirelli's guys. No amount of money or Ferrari influence should have ever allowed SRT to switch to them. The Michelin's are simply an unbeatable street tire.
It was likely done a long time ago and I doubt it would have taken this long for the previous owner to realize he couldn't change the filter. $25k is a good deal even on a salvage title. It's a GTS, not an RT/10.
Another thing to try, especially if you ever track the car, but even if you don't.... 15w/50 Mobile 1. Now before you say NO WAY, hear me out. This came straight from the guy who helped design your engine, Dick Winkles. Dick said it's perfectly safe to run 15W/50 all season long (warmer...
